IWPA needs suggestions
The IWPA is about to have its annual board meeting and Todd Allen for Region 6 is asking for any comments, suggestions or wants /wishes that you may want brought up so you can email Todd at Todd Allen. allent@michauto.com if your not in Region 6 contact your representive, but I'm sure if you can't find your's Todd Allen will listen, he's a great guy and we are lucky to have him in Region 6. Those that were at the Pull Offs will remember all the equipment Todd organized the building and packing of it. You should have stuck around to see the way we load that trailer, believe it or not we got it all in, two wheel rigs, the sled, carpet and everything else. See you next year at the pull offs, dogs or not I'll be there. two new dogs to start this year and I'm going to push a couple of the one I didn't push this year. My 125lb bitch will hopefully have her pups before christmas and then I can pull her. I need one more litter with this male before I lose him to age and anything else Mastiffs have trouble with.
Here's a suggestion, Keep the rules the same on Saturday as there going to be on Sunday. I'm new to the IWPA, and pulled at the last pull in reg.2 in Yakama,WA. A friend and I traveled ovr 200 mile and spent a lot of time and money to attend. Saturday went well and over all I was pleased with the pull, but Sunday was a different story. After my first pull on Sunday I was approached by Bob SO and SO from the board ( I know he's Bob from the board because he told me and everyone else at least a half dozen times). Bob tells me that my pull ( approved by the judge) was a foul. I explained to Bob that his explanation for my foul was in conflict with the IWPA rules I had studied and trained for months before joining and attending. Bob then went to the judge to assert his point of view, this confused the judge at which time Bob used his authority to over ride the situation. This forced me to change pulling technique (even though I was pulling correctly under the IWPA rules) leaving me and my dog trying new things and fouled out 200 miles from home. After returning home and reviewing the rules over and over again, I had pulled correctly and was told otherwise by someone who represents you in the highest regards, who then persuaded a judge, all due to a lack of knowledge and at my expense. In my opinion, this greatly lacks professionalism. This experience has left a hair on my tongue that may take some time to get off. So if you want something to talk about in every reg. 1-11 at your board meetings, talk about your judge being knowledgeable and prepared. Even more important talk about how the IWPA wants to treat the people it wants to come back.
