I'm new here, but this is my opinion. This is my first post, and may be my last, but here is what I have to say about the FF games: FF11 hasn't been released, but if it stays the same course as other MMORPGs then it'll probably just be another EQ/AC/DAoC. FF10 haven't played it yet because I don't have a PS2 yet. Looks great, and I'm looking foward to playing it. FF9 went back to basics, but just from what I played seemed childish. FF8 was complete and utter crap. FF7 was the best PS1 final fantasy game. FF6 is the best Final Fantasy hands down. FF5 had an interesting job system. FF4 is a great game if you like nostalgia. FF1, 2, and 3 are also cool in the same way as FF4. FFTactics has a lot of characters, almost too many. Just my opinion. Don't flame me for this. Just stating my opinion about what I think about the games. Don't come on here like "FF8 RULED YOU LOSER!!" because then you obviously haven't played any other FF games 'cept 9. Don't even argue with my if you have played anything before 8. "Cities fall but they are rebuilt. Heros die but they are remembered."

and siren off FF8

Which it doesn't.I did find FFIX dissapointing, because I got through it so quickly, and, well, none of the characters really got to me. The music wasn't that original, but one thing I liked was the design. It never had a lasting effect on me. In my opinion, FFVIII *squirms and thinks* it was good; good character design, amazing FMV's that really pushed the PlayStation. I liked the fact that it was challenging for me, but maybe the game was a bit too long. Looking at screenshots, and I can't remember a small fraction of those scenes. The game was massive, in terms of size. And it had it's share of bishounen....Irvine......*momentary lapse of distance* Squall, Squall. I found him a boring and cold character. Sure, he was designed that way, but he never won any sympathy points. "I dreamt I was a moron." And all the girls in there are air heads so no role-modles there.  And the game was heavily merchandised too BTW. .....but that doesn't mean I don't want a Galbadian Bears hockey jersey.FFVII still remains my favourite. Simple graphics don't matter when a deep and interesting story line. I'm just so very pi$$ed off that I lost my copy of the game. *sigh* I'm hoping to pick up an non-Platinum copy soon. I have one in my sights. ...going off topic..... I don't like Aeris, Tifa kicks ass, Cloud has some issues, but he's kinda OK, Yuffie is a brat, but good at it  , Barret is a clone of Mr.T  , RedXIII is cool, Cid should be a kindergarten teacher , Vincent is ".........", and Sephiroth, WOOO YEAHHH!! He is an awesome character. No-one comes close. ....and he's hot too...FFVI, have yet to decide whether I like it or not..... FFX, I've pre-ordered it when it comes to Australia in June Others, I've pre-ordered IV and V, the others haven't been released here. Boo, that's my opinion. Feel free to bask in it's warm glow before it fades away like the heat from a delicious waffle...... I'm Jennifer BTW. I am not normal. |

I just made an account here. I heartfully agree with Manofa1000names, Final Fantasy 8 was in fact pretty crap  . Why did they even make such a game? Really, I beat that game quicker than any of the other Final Fantasy games and I've played them all. The characters where lowsy, and what's the thing with GUN(yes a long range weapon with a SWORD attached to it, like the bajonets...on a rifle...). They didnt even have Mogs, they changed out mogs with those small dog like orange monkeys, and you had to have a pocket station to even get the best one. How lame is that? The characters where worse... Zell was a kid with a stupid mind.... I just wanted to rip that guy's lungs out but I did'nt. As for Rinoa? She could barely fight and was like... too much of a goodytwoshoes for me. Squall in my eyes is like Zidane from IX.. Horrible. He did'nt know about anything. What to do etc. NOT a leader figure. Well, neither was Cloud but he could actually think fast and then DO something. The other chars where also lowsy, Edea the um... "witch" with uncool spells etc. Horrible... Irvine...? A wuss gunfighter that can't even do his sniperwork! And the two ladies.. A child and a teacher for good's sake? Did squaresoft loose their personality in their chars under that game? Sheesh... after FF7 it all went down... FF10.. did'nt like it. 1 hit on the last boss and he was toast... FF 3 is the one I like best. Ops gtg, I'm late. I'll finnish this tonight

... damn. people. i have to post, even tho i don't... yea, ff8 sucked. remotely itnersting premise, tho. had potential to have good characters- quistis and seifer were pretty badass. at least they would have been if they were alive. i mean damn, drywall has more personality. wasted oppertunities *tsks* some songs were pretty good tho. i have to sya i liked that ending fmv/music the best from all the ffs i've tried, which is probably most of 'em. 9 was kinad lame in some spots. ff7 just kicks. ff6 just kicks more. ffx-2 looks cool from the fmv. and yuna has guns. how badass is that. hopefully the game won't suck. i also think ff11 will be another uo/pso type thing where it gets hacked to hell. i don't know why i'm still writing. maybe somebody'l l see this..just never know... |

I'm new here, but this is my opinion. eeeehh, Iv'e played them all except XI for obvious reasons. FF7 Remains the classic and unchallenged in my opinion. But I am the rare few who liked FF8, not only for it's change in the way summons were thought of (they had new style and use rather then Ifrit just being Fire2 coupled with all matiria). I like the gunblades, but they seemed a little farfetched and pointless, Why not have a sword? But what caught my eye was the storyline, one that isn't as simple as Cloud is good Sephiroth is evil, or childish as the relationship between Zidane and Dagger. All in all it was a good game in my book but hey, FF7 kicks more @$$ than any, I love playing a guy with an identity crisis! Oh and before I quit, FFX Ruled, Ruled and(not to spoil it too bad) Sucked at the end. Anyone here feel like they wanted to kick their PS2 out the window? Man I was pissed, Thank god they are making a sequil. Can't put up without one. Genius is one percent inspiration and nintynine percent presparation-Thomas Edison |

It would be virtually impossible to one hit Sin unless you are using hark, or you've been playing the for endless hours. I agree that FFIX was indeed childish, but it wasn't entirely a horrible . The storyline was a little confusing near the end, but it wasn't the worst Final Fantasy they've made. FFVIII would have to be the worst FF (imo). Because like you've said, the main character is completely clueless, and can't think for himself. The characters are a little annoying, like Zell, Seifer, Irvine, but there are worse. If you want to go off and insult FFIX for having "chilish graphics". Look at FFVII. I know it was made before 8 and 9, but the graphics are terrible. I didn't like the concept of Octagonal characters, with squared off shoulders and whatnot. I'm not in any way saying FFVII sucked, because it's my favourite FF . Final Fantasy X-2 wasn't as good as I thought, because it's incredibly easy, and I flew through it. The downside to it, is when you start a new + you lose all your levels (I had trained to about level 75). But you do get to keep your skills which makes up for it slightly. FF2-6 were good , but 5 wasn't that good, the jobs were cool, but I didn't like the gameplay

2 years later... It's funny how people find this site and manage to reply to thread that are 2 years past due. I'm an original member and I swing by to watch the walls slowly crumble. I met my husband through FF8, so it has a special place in my heart, plus it was fun and Squall was cute. I never finished FF9 because monkey boy was so annoying. I played FF10 and liked it well enough. The side battles were cool. FF10-2... I never played... It seemed to fruity. All those outfit changes. FF7, as they say, is always a classic. Advent Children has brought it to a new generation. I just hope they don't whine about the graphics. They were great for their time! FF:Tactics, yes, there are too many characters, but I've got over 70 hours of gameplay in anyway. Currently playing FF12, which is AWESOME! I totally love Balthier's character. Great story so far too.
