Information of 42' FBMY Trojan with Wooden hull
I am looking at buying a 42' Trojan, 1973 model. Can anyone give me some advice on wooden hull maintance, in particular the foot or two below the deck where dry rot seems to occur nore so than anything below the water line. I would also like to here from some other yacht owners that have some helpful tips.

Since nobody else has replied yet, I will. I don't know much about wooden boats. However, I can tell you you will have to be willing to spend a lot of time and money to maintain (my teak swim platform is enough for me). I know of two of the wooden 42' Trojans on my lake. One was obvoiusly maintained well, and it shows (ONE REALLY NICE BOAT). The other's decks are nice, but the hull looks like you could poke your finger through it.
This boat would make an excellent boat if you think you can maintain it. Hopefully a person who knows more about wooden boats will reply.

I owned a 1968 42 Flush Deck Motoryacht for 15 years,
if you already purchased a boat good luck, if not think long and hard, the maintenance to keep them in pristine condition is constant. The toe rails, rub rails and the aft cabin port lights were all major contributors to the dry rot on the hull. Also the cheap teak laminated over plywood decks caused enough dry rot to keep me busy.
The wood panels underneath the windsheild was another problem. I would be more than happy to discuss the boat in detail, just respond to this. I will check from time to time.

1971 Trojan 42FT
We are thinking of purchasing a 1971 42ft. trojan with gas motors. Boat has been maintained very well. We dont know where to look for rot. Bottom was sanded and painted 2 years ago. Could use some pointers on presale examinations. Have walked on every known surface, and no flexing on any deck. Boat also has fly bridge with all controls. Do you or anyone have any idea what a boat like this might be valued at . thanks Jeff. ivy777o@msn.com

i bought a 42 ft trojan wood in pritine con 2 yrs ago mosy of the boats i looked at where not in good shape not maintaines this boat maintained etremely well pain btm etc it seemed to be in the 50,ooo dollar range plus or minus 5000 either way depending on the boat does any one else have any exp on how to price a wooden baot 42 ft trojan pritine cond fly bridge all new inside out???
42 WOOD TROJAN
i'VE JUST PURCHASED A '71 42' SEA VOYAGER. IT NEEDS A LOT OF ABOVE WATERLINE RESTORATION, ESPECIALLY AROUND THE AFT STATE ROOM. I WOOD APPRECIATE ANY KNOWLEDGE YOU CAN SHARE ABOUT THIS BOAT AND WHAT I'M GOING TO NEED TO DO TO RESTORE IT. THANKS TIM
