Job interview Got a phone message in response to a job application I sent out last week. Sounds like I'll be getting an interview. Please pray that it goes well and that I get the job (help desk/tech support). |

Re: Job interview Had a phone interview, but got an email saying thanks for your interest but you won't be getting a real interview nor the job itself. Still it was very encouraging to get the call since it's been about 2 months of applying to places without getting any calls. |

Re: Job interview Sorry! I HATE looking for jobs! That's the main reason I'm so big on Temperary Employment Agencies. They do the looking, and call me if they find something. Cause they only get paid (by the employer, not me) if they find me something! Eric |

Re: Job interview Yah, but then you dont get paid as much as your worth. I mean, if thats a last resort, or if you really need help in finding a job, in getting experience for a first job, I suppose its ok. Id rather get paid as much as I can, without having the company that wants me having to pay a middle man for as long as im employed.

Re: Job interview True on the lower pay, but I look on it as an extended interview w the company. If I like them, and they like me, then after a couple of months, I can usually get hired outright cutting out the middle man. That's how I hooked up w. my current company where I've been for 10 years now. I temped for 5 or 6 others before this one though, and was SO glad that I was not a permanent employee because they were terrible places to work! Eric |

Re: Job interview I have to agree with Eric, my current position is through a temp agency. THey found me a permanent position and the boss here only had to pay one lump sum for finding me. I was pretty excited because my pounding the streets were coming up fruitless. I have to admit though....I miss my old job in PA...but that is another story.... Just don't give up looking, you will find the right job. Christie |

Re: Job interview
Awesome! I got a paralegal certificate, but couldn't handle the whole 'billable hours' concept. I am such a misfit! I got training to do all kinds of stuff that I just didn't fit into:
Paralegal, teacher, journalist, etc. Eric |

Re: Job interview What was it about "billable hours" that didn't work for you? The thought of really only spending 2 minutes (because you worked from a premade form) but you had to bill for an hour?? Or something else? I have all sorts of computer training and well...I hate anyone knowing I know anything about computers...I really don't care to fix other people's computers. I have the knowledge, I just don't have the patience.. hehehe. So I know what you mean. Christie |

Re: Job interview The law office that I did my internship in had a set number of 'billable hours' you had to hit. So, you could be there for 8 hours, but unless you could actually bill clients for 8 hours, you weren't done. It was brutal! Eric |

Re: Job interview Wow, that is brutal. I have worked for numerous lawyers and law firms and have not once been instructed to have a certain number of billable hours. Either I have been keeping busy enough or....perhaps you worked for a pretty money pinching attorney. Of course it could be that I have been just that lucky?? (haha). If it was only one law firm, I wouldn't give up on the work just because of that. But sounds like you are happy where you are now anyway. =) Christie Edited by: TCWalt |

Re: Job interview Yeah, it worked out for the best. I do really like my job now. I will have been here 10 years on November 30th. Eric |
