Kaze tests the waters with his toe.... I wanted to share a really cool blessing. My wife went to a ladies' church overnighter doing her best to faithfully expect God's blessing even though she didn't really want to, was missing her best friend who just moved to Texas, and felt swamped at home with home-schooling and other stuff. God blessed her socks off! The speaker seemed to be speaking right to her both nights (Friday and Saturday); the small group exercises were intimate and safe and supportive and allowed her to get to know some neat ladies that she never really had before despite us all going to the same church for years; and on the last night; a personal conflict between two Godly ladies (it involved one lady's son's divorce from the other lady, and had been very hard for both families) was resolved dramatically when the older lady took it upon herself to come and wash the feet of the other lady. Hard to really communicate how incredible the whole experience ended up being for my wife. She did not really have 'fun'; but she DID encounter God again and again. He is so faithful! If we try to follow Him, our weakness and failures can never make us useless or strangers to Him! Eric |

Re: Kaze tests the waters with his toe.... It is in reference to whether or not Nuhere would make a tasteless response. Doesn't seem to have happened, though, which is nice. It's nice that things went well... but to be perfectly honest, a part of me gets suspicious when people emulate events recorded in the Bible. I just find the motivations... questionable. But I have a naturally suspicious mind, so don't pay to much attention to me. |

Re: Kaze tests the waters with his toe.... np; it is cultural, in my opinion. In some churches, hugs are cool, in others, not so much. In some churches, the older lady would probably have brought bread and wine and celebrated communion with the other lady. Or had a big dinner. The motivation was pure, and that was expressed in the action. An impure, self-seeking motive would have made it into the caricature of the Biblical event that my brief discription might have sounded like. Eric |
