General view By now, that is with the release of The TWO TOWERS, I was pretty well informed about Middle Earth and all its wonders, thanks to yahoo LOTR Chat rooms and online forums like the Barrow Downs, Minas Tirith and Mordor, land of shadow.
This sequel, or continuation rather, followed really well from where FOTR left off. Tying up the many loose ends. A good blend of CGI and live action puts it far ahead of the SW prequels that released at the same time.
Highlights The imagery that impressed me
1.        The ripping battle sequence with between the warg-rider orcs and the villagers of Rohan.
2.        The Uruks and Orcs, under Ugluk with Merry and Pip at their mercy. Great stuff.
3.        The awesome battles between the black uruk army and the combined forces of men and elves. Some good siege and hold choreography.
4.        The crazy Ents cutting loose. Finally!
5.        The return of Gandalf, all starched and clean.
6.        And the best for last, Gollum!!!
Characters and cast Frodo Baggins Argh. Pain and struggle, etc, etc. Wood did well in this film. Samwise Gamgee Sean Astin, the perfect sidekick tho sometimes it felt like he and Wood should get a room. Pippin/ Peregrin Took Okay! Orcs and Ents and all. Merry / Meriadoc Brandybuck Okay! Orcs and Ents and all. Gandalf Ian McKellan. All white and full of energy. Still say Christopher Lambert would be my choice as old Gandalf. Aragorn Viggo Mortensen. Arghh, he starts his wimping out with his fall from the warg battle. Should have had a more active part in this film. Boromir Was missed. Legolas Orlando Bloom. Much better part than in the first one. Ripping fight sequence and horse riding. Whoa! Gimli John Rhys-Davies. I always liked dwarves in fantasy tales. Still do. Could have had more Carnage for him with his Axe!.
Arwen Liv Tyler. A song, just a song. Elrond Hugo Weaving. Ho hum, he always runs away. Galadriel Cate Blanchett. Snore! Celeborn - Where???. Saruman Christopher Lee, anyone else would not have done the character justice. Great actor, great voice, great part. Re DuX!!! Bilbo Baggins Ian Holm, well, okay!
Eowyn Miranda Otto. YEEEHAHHH! Major babe factor here. Love ever bit, and I mean bit of her in the movie. Eomer Karl Urban. Looks good in a warriors helm. Faramir David Wenham. Like Faramir, couldnt hold a candle to Bean/Boromir. Grima Wormtongue Brad Dourif. Yeah, yeah! A sidekick, minion, regular Igor! King Theoden of Rohan Bernard Hill. Nice transformation from a husk of a man to a warrior king. Go Theo! GOLLUM Andy Sirkis. CGI or not, this was awesome stuff. Worth the admission.
In conclusion, I would say that this, the second movie has done a great service in setting us up for the finale, ROTK. Dont know how, but time seemed to fly and then suddenly there I was, all ready to go watch the third film.
I have to say, other than the fireworks scene in the first movie, the fighting in the TT were the best scenes to be produced out of all three movies. Their even better when you conceder that only a handful of people where used to create the many thousands that were fighting. Although the fighting scenes in the third movie were good, I found that the TT evoked more emotion.
I think this movies was my favorite out of all three.

Its not distorting the page for us, but web page display differs from computer to computer depending upon the computer setup so I'll do as you ask. I hate side scrolling too!
Was it me or did Gimli stand out more during the TT than he did during the other two movies?
