Lucie's graphite drawing
There are a couple of things that I see in your drawing Lucie. They are: a) the upper lip in the photo doesn't seemed to be as "peaked" as you have drawn it, and b) I believe his forehead/hairline is too high. Darling little boy!

Re: Lucie's graphite drawing
Her work is about 70% done. She needs work with her values and how to separate them. Her work is all in the middle values.I suggest LEE HAMMOND'S HOW TO DRAW LIFELIKE PORTRAITS FROM PHOTOGRAPHS.This will help alot toward her being able to start selling and increasing her prices. This is probably the best book on the market today bar none. She uses a value scale and shows her technique beautifully.

The differences Ihave with her are in technique,I use a multilayered approach that is very time consuming in that I don't blend with a stump or tissue or anything else. This time consuming layering blends the tones so that they are photographic, old school style I like because my teacher(master)taught me.I also blow up the picture on my computer to the right size, blacken the back with pencil, trace over it onto the drawing surface and then start rendering the values.

ALWAYS keep an eye on the values you are reproducing, this gives the realism you need to produce a photographic image. In doing portraits the likeness is everthing.GOOD LUCK,your work will improve tremendously because you have the talent, you just need to bring it out a little more.
