tournament
cpa has a nice story to tell regarding some happenings after the game. Butthull, has the HAAC rules for automatic bids to nationals changed? I heard Rocky said that the 2 that make it to the tournament title game go, but I always thought the reg season champ gets in plus whoever wins or gets to the title game (if the reg season champ survives). MNU/Jewell is huge this weekend. MNU cannot afford to lose another game if they lose there. There will not be an at-large bid for the #2 team in the reg season if they falter if they don't get to the title game.

Valley game The game was really the tale of two halves. Valley came out and thought they could run with MNU. MNU was on fire offensively in the first half. They put up 60 points. Peterson and Wirick were outstanding on the offensive end. Unfortunately, there wasn't much defense played by MNU. They were only up 60 - 52 at the half. Coming out in the second half, it was obvious that Valley figured out they couldn't run with MNU so they decided to play physical. Things really got out of countrol. There were two intentional fouls called. One on MNU and one on Valley. The refs totally lost control of the game. It is very fortunate that players did not get hurt. Valley was playing out of control. They cross body blocked Snyder on a slam attempt. One of Valley's players got T'd up, too. The refs were only calling about half of the fouls though. Valley was able to beat up MNU quite a bit and get some stops that way. That was how they made the game so close. They had a chance to tie or win it on their last possession but Keeley and Wirick made outstanding defensive plays to seal the game. As far as the post game festivities, I really don't want to post this stuff on line for all to see. I will try to give you the info some other time. |

Valley Game cpadude: First of all were you at the game? Oh wait you must have been because you did see the refs lose control of it. That is the only thing I will agree with you on. Now I know for a fact in your comment that you know nothing about the game of basketball. If you did you would have noticed if the Vikings had not played physical, MidAm would have run all over them. It was called physical assault and the Vikings were defending themselves. Rocky's players play like Rocky did in his college days! DIRTY! My sources tell me that the after events were all started by the dirtiest of all, Peterson. Had the coaches not broke the fight up, who knows what would have happened. From what I was told the Vikings busted up the Pioneers faces pretty good. As for the supposed defensive stop on the last play. I don't believe a mugging was good defense! Too bad the refs did not have the kahoonas to blow the whistle. Overtime would not have been a good thing for MidAm. Look out that conference tourney is right around the corner! They better have the National guard at that one because it will be a battle. Edited by: Kramer at: 2/6/04 10:38 am |

Fight! From what I understand the game was physical and after the game while walking to the lockerrooms the two team engaged in a fight. Now as for specifics I cannot tell you I wasn't back there. I heard that It was a pretty big ordeal in which Mid-am's fans got involved with. It was a great game I am disapointed in hearing of the after game festivities. Lets just all hope that they meet again in the conference tourny. Maybe the HAAC will assign refs that can control a game between two of the best teams in the nation. |

Re: Responsibility,Respect,Servant Leadership,Integrity, an SPORTSMANSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (NAIA core values) All of those things come to mind when I think of MNU basketball. I'm sure Rocky has done a thourough investigation into the fight and there will be a few suspensions!!!!!!!! |

SPORTSMANSHIP? If you think Rocky has done and investigation you are crazy! Do you think Rocky wants to find any of his boys guilty, and suspend anybody before their game with William Jewell! I am sure the good people from MidAm laid all the blame on the Vikings, so there won't be any consequences. MidAm should not even hang the Champions of Character banner in their gym, because their fans, student body, coaches, and players do not abide by it! |

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP? Kramer--- where have you been? It's nice to have someone else on here who feels the same way I do about MNU. All Rocky cares about is winning. He has players on his team that wouldn't last a day at Jewell. Coach Holley wouldn't put up with their antics! Peterson has been in the program for four years and he still has not grown up one bit. That's Rocky's fault! |

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP? manuanu....not only does your attitude stink when jewell losese to mnu....it stinks even more the day after jewell defeats mnu. i can understand the former....but there is no excuse for the latter being true. sour grapes and jealousy of an MNU program that, as a whole, has pushed jewell into the shadows the last 10 years. deal with it and stop slandering coach lamar. |

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP?
My last post was before Saturdays game! But since you brought it up.....Dr. Lamar has performed surgery again. There is no way Keeley had 10 assists!!!!! No wonder he leads the nation!!

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP? OH...so your display of ineptness varies within the parameters of when games are played? seems logical enough....for a jewell fan. |

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP? I think the correct term is libel not slander. In any case, neither is correct if it is the truth. First of all, I stand by my claim that Rocky pads stats. Ask any coach in the league. Better yet, compare MNU stats with any of the other league schools for their games against MNU. As I stated in one of my first posts, an assist or two a game can add up. It can even make a player the national leader. The official stats had Keeley with 8 assists. The only people that can change stats are the head coaches. Rocky changes stats after every game! At worst it is cheating, at best he is the most liberal stat keeper in the nation. You will also note that he does not change his opponents stats. Second, Peterson was not very mature when he got to MNU and he is still very immature. Conference rules state that players and coaches must shake hands after an athletic contest. Peterson was not in line. He apparently headed to the locker room. Bad sportsmanship. I'm sure that Rocky said nothing to him. I can guarantee you he would not get away with his actions at Jewell! Thirdly, George Jetson is taller than the Dr. |

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP? dp is a gifted player that works his butt off for the advancement of the team. it's been a pleasure to watch him develop from a scared, insecure freshman that thought maybe the fans expected greatness not unlike his brother dan's game right out of the shoot, then, become a solid, all conference candidate as a junior and senior. to his credit, he just kept plugging along and has claimed his own identity and role on the team. dp is wired differently than a lot of players. he has difficulty corraling his emotions at times. however, to his credit, i've seen many many many a lesser opponent try to get under dp's skin first and play basketball second for the purpose of trying to coax him into reacting. and i've seen dp control his emotion many many more times than let loose. that's what i think of dp. of course, you are a jewellian, so your opinion will be more than skewed, i'm quite sure. |

Re: SPORTSMANSHIP? DP was an all conference candidate last year along with all the other varsity players in the Heart. Unfortunately, he did not receive any honors. Although he had great stats, apparently the other conference coaches felt he was "wired" differently also. Great coaches are able to re-wire problems! |
