Magic
Hi! I hope people are still posting here, because I have a question. How does the Ministry of Magic know when magic is being used illegally or not? I noticed that Ben mentioned in another thread something like "a disturbance in the force" could explain this, but I see some problems with this explanation. Obviously, the MoM doesn't know about every illegal use of magic, or else Wormtail, Prongs and Padfoot wouldn't have been able to become illegal animagi. Don't you think something would have been done in this case? There's also the case of Mr. Weasley's magic car. I think he would have been caught when he first used it; or if he never used it when Ron first took it out.
Another observation: the magic detection isn't perfect. Harry got into trouble for Dobby's magic after all.
BTW I haven't read book 4 yet, so if there's something to explain this in Goblet of Fire, please be careful of spoilers. Hoping to get it soon!
I've now read book 4 so bring on the spoilers!
I'm a Muggle! How horrible!

Re: Magic
i have been wondering that my self i think it is just another mistake by j.k. rowling like the one she made when lily came after james from voldemorts wand which meant that lily was killed first but it said in the book that james was so there u go livin proof that we all make mistakes
Ministry Worker Here! Got your answers.
OK, Working at the Ministry, I too wondered this question. It took a while to get promoted to the Department of Mysterys. Once I got promoted, I learned the top secret spells used on all wands, and the spells to find out who did them are even harder. If you want to see these spells, or virtually any other spell, e-mail me at Tenster@Mac.com, and I'll get back to you. :-) (PS. I've put an illegiblity spell on it to hide it from other Ministry workers.)
Re: Magic
Thats a very good question and would need some to think about that one. I think that if someone was doing magic outside of Hogwarts and a muggle-born saw. wouldnt they report it to the newspaper or something. Like how a muggle born saw a flying car (in 2cond book). But then how would they get there muggle born newspaper right away. well i better shut up now im confusing myself and probably u too.
Somethimes i have my staff in my hand and say for hours long:
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard I'm a good wizard
Joke.
