Maiden cruise
We left La Rochelle last saturday to visit the island of Ré and now we are in Les Sables d'Olonne heading further North. We got our new mainsail just on time with the class logo and all the trimmings.
We had good winds for the first two days and I am extremely surprised by the turn of speed of our Nic31. It takes very little wind to get her moving, and with 15 knots of wind she really goes, achieving 6.5 knots easily on a reach. Most of the boats ahead of us were overtaken quickly, and left with a helmsman wondering what was wrong with his sail trim.

Wow, she really is a fantastic boat. This is truly a great design (with the exception of backing out of a box....LOL)

And the new engine is performing flawlessly with a lot of power if needed.

Here are a few pictures of ALYA taken during the last few weeks.

Sitting in the mud in Mortagne. The new toerails have been test fitted and drilled.

Another view of the brand new toerails.

Love the new toerails,do you mind me asking how much they cost as I'm thinking of renewing my own.

Re: Maiden cruise
Does the standard toe rail come with a cap strake?
When I ordered my boat I had Campers do an 'Extra tall' (+/- 3 1/2" - 4") toe rail and it came thru with a cap strake. If I could figure out how to add jpeg images I could show and tell. (check out images in the gallery). The extra height is very nice, especially when it's blowing and you have to go forward, the boat is heeling, and you are looking for secure footing.

Re: Maiden cruise
Hello Bonita. We had the toerails and several other items made out of the same piece of teak (base plates for secondary winches, instrument support blocks, etc), and all this cost us about 2000 euros.
