Memorizing Scripture!
Hi!

I thought I'd post a little tip in here about memorizing scripture! Whenver I email a letter to someone, or post a note in here I always try to end the letter or post with a verse of scripture. I've found this is a great way to memorize the Word! If you just pick one verse out and type it, everytime you write someone, before long you'll have it memorized!!

We have a small chalk board in the computer room, and one of those wipe-off boards. We write our verses on those boards and then whenever we write to someone we just type it in the letter. If you don't have one of these boards, or don't have enough room for one, just write your verse on a piece of paper and keep it handy by the computer. The neat thing, I've found, is you can even memorize the puctuation this way. For instance you can remember where the semi-colon goes ect. ;)

We really like those "Bible Promise Books" and we use them a lot to find a verse to post at the end of our letters. :) Not all the verses I post are ones I've memorized, but even still in letter writing we can allow the Lord to write His Word upon our hearts. ;)

I hope this little tip helps you! I'd appreciate hearing how you practice memorizing scripture! Do you use any special computer programs or books, or have you found a different method that works good for you? Please tell us! I'm looking forward to your posts!

Blessings in Jesus!

Re: Memorizing Scripture!
Dear Emilee,

I agree it is a great idea to use scripture in the correspondance we do. I too like to use scripture in my letter writing as it is a witness of God's greatness.
As children we used to memorise scripture a lot. I think as we come closer to God and really understand how He thinks scripture memorisation will become easier as we put on 'His mind'.
Thanks for the tip of the chalk board, I am going to implement that myself!

I'll just share one of my favourite verses;
'Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer' - Psalms 19:14.

In Christ Jesus,
Fanny.

Re: Memorizing Scripture!
Good morning! :wave

Those are wonderful tips, Emilee Elizabeth. I like to write the verse(s) that I will memorize each day on a note card. I carry it around in my pocket, and say it several times until I have memorized it. The cards are also wonderful to review memorized verses from the past-- I put them in a "Bible verses photo album" of sorts that I made. :)

I also have friends write their favorite verse on a card and sign it for my Bible verse collection, and it is encouraging to look at the verses they wrote down. I can memorize them as well, and they are already on note cards.

Sometimes I type out a chapter or so and leave out some words with blanks in their place. I can print out many of them to fill in, and then change the document to having more and more blanks until I can write out the whole chapter without any help. That is how I memorized Colossians. Typing up the verses over and over (or writing them—but I have a problem with my hands so that is difficult) can also help with memorizing them.

Make a conscious decision today to be joyful! :clap

Blessings,

Emily

Re: Memorizing Scripture!
I love the idea of writing a verse on the board and putting it every time I write someone. I put a verse on the white board just now!

Thank you so much. I love new ideas of all sorts.
