Money management (titheing/saving) I need some advice! I was not sure where to put this topic but I chose this one since I do believe it pertains to the home Anyway, can you give me any tips on money management. I have a small part time job teaching (5 hours a week) and I don't get paid very much at all. I'm careful to always tithe and that has never been a problem for me......but I can't seem to save. I end up using all my paycheck and can't save one dime. My poor savings account is looking sparse!!!! I want to be able to tithe, save, and have some for spending. Do you have a good method that works for you? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~~ Aja Nicole ~~ |

Re: Money management (titheing/saving)
I don't have a job or make a lot of money. I came up with this anyhow. I will put %50 into long term savings. It will be untouchble no matter what. I know that %50 is a lot, I just firgured it will come in handy later. Maybe you can't put away that much. Just come up with different numbers. This is what I came up with for myself. %40 into short term savings/spending. Pick a smaller goal. Like a skirt you have been wanting or somthing else. Of course you will have things you need (or just want) to spend on too. Maybe instead of having one place for short term savings and spending, divide it in two. Then I will put %10 towards tithes.
Ok I am not this expert. This is just what I came up with for myself. I hope it helps you. I think the trick is to not touch what you put in savings!!! ![]() Danielle Elizabeth Daughter to John and Jacqueline Big Sister to: Mark(13) Samantha(8 ) Lisa(6) Ruth(4) & Jack (2) Website |

Re: Money management (tithing/saving) I know what you mean about spending, Aja – that money seems to disappear so fast! My parents gave us some money managing rules starting when we were young, which I still go by, which is basically 10% for tithe, 20% for savings, and 70% for spending. I deduct those amounts right away and that’s that. My savings go into a credit union, and I have also invested some in stocks. Since I’ve done this for a long time, it’s a habit and I never think twice about it. I would suggest just setting an amount for savings and take it out and put it somewhere before you spend anything! Hope this helps! Hugs, Hannah ![]() "Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart." Ps.37:4 |

Re: Money management (tithing/saving) In our family, what we are supposed to do is: 10% tithe (obviously 50% long-terms savings in the bank, untouchable the rest for spending as I need/want. That was always the rule as I was growing up, anytime I got money, that's how it was taken care of, so it's not hard for me. Right now I'm saving for several different things (different trips I want to take next summer, a new flute, etc) and I'm putting more money into the bank....keeping a record of what I have set aside for certain things. That way it's earning interest while I'm waiting to earn the rest of the amount I need. Anna
