RLB Administrator Posts: 428 (6/2/02 12:36 pm) Reply	Mulch Many of you may know about how useful mulch is in a vegetable garden, but this is the first year I have tried it. It makes a very big difference, especially in a climate like ours. I used pine bark mulch and spread it around the base of the plants. It helps to maintain a stable temperature around the plants and holds in moisture.

I went shopping this weekend and noticed a lot of plants being put out. I had to fight off the urge to buy some. I'm ready to plant my garden and get my yard ready for Spring! I'm impatient every year. These warmer days we've been having just serve to tease me. Come'on Spring!! Oh by the way, I never did hear if the Groundhog saw his shadow or not. What was his verdict?
RLB Administrator Posts: 445 (2/4/03 9:42 pm) Reply	Re: mulch I highly recommend it. My cucumber plants lasted about twice as long as without mulching. I think the groundhog predicted six more weeks of wintery weather.
