My official Introduction
Hello everyone,
My name is Stephanie. I finally took the time and got registered so that I could come to this message board. I have wanted to for sooo long. Well here I am. I have enjoyed reading different people's post and the different conversations. It is also nice to see familiar names such as--Krista (Hello!) and Sarah C. (Long time). Another thing that took me forever was the fact that I couldn't decide what my user name should be--I have the hardest time deciding. Well I also have a question:how in the world do I get a picture or quote in my posts (do I have to put it in there every time or can I save it?) and how can I get a picture under my usename? I am quite envious for most of you have the best pictures from my Favorite movies (Ever After, Lorna Doone-Krista-and I think I've seen Pride and Prejudice) oh well I'll find something else.
Well I am glad I'm here,
Love in Christ,
Stephanie

Re: My official Introduction
Hello Stephanie!!!!!
It is so good to see you here!!!! I love your user name! :)

Okay, about how to do the picture in your signature. I've copied and pasted the instructions given me at another message board I go to. Here it is!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Type the word center in brackets, like these []
Right next to it, type the word image in brackets like that.
Then next to them, type in the link for the picture you want.
Then type [/image]
Then type [/center]
Make sure you leave no spaces between words, and save changes
#1. Go to the front page of the board, which lists all the forums (Administrative Annoucements, Introduce Yourself, Etc.).
#2. Go to My Control Center
#3. Click on it.
#4. Click on Account Preferences.
#5. Scroll down till you come to the Custom Signature box, and then type your code into into.
#6. Click on Save Changes.
Also, you have to download the picture to your sever, instead of linking to that site. You can go to File, and click Save As, then save it in the folder you want it in. Then click on the picture and copy the file address.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Let me know if you have any questions! I may seem confusing in the explanation.... :\ One thing you should NOT do is directly link your pic from another person's website. It is almost like stealing to do so. You have download it, or as a lady at the other board did for me, host it at your own website. :)

HTH!
~Krista

Oh yes, I almost forgot! A good website to find photos from movies at is:

www.erasofelegance.com/index.html

Just use the search engine to find whatever movie you are looking for! :)

Picture Posting
Krista...

Thanks for posting those directions for adding a picture to one's post!! I've been meaning to do that; so you helped me out!! I sure do appreciate it!! :clap :)

You're right!! It's very important to download your chosen picture :art to your computer, :pc and then upload it to a host online. :) This could be at a photo album site, (where you can post your pictures online) a free website you've signed up for, or if you have any free web hosting space available from your internet service provider. For example our Internet Service Provider gives 10 megabytes of space for a free website to each subscriber. You can put all kinds of pictures on that much space!! :multi

For those of you who are new and wondering why it's so important to download and upload your pictures...

Years ago I actually learned the hard way! :( That was before I was aware that linking to pictures would cause a problem. :? The lady was extremely gracious and I learned much! :)

When you click the button, (in the upper left-hand corner) to insert and image, it will ask you for an internet address. Some go to a website, right click on the picture they like, then click properties, and copy the address of the image. Then they just paste that address into the area requesting a link for an image. That's what I did, before I realized it wasn't a good practice. |I This causes something called bandwidth on that Lady's site. This costs her money too! :\ If she gets to much bandwidth, more than she is allowed, she'll have to pay more money to be able to host her site online. Or, if her site is free, her provider might drop her, because she is using up too much of her alloted space. :( The lady who I dealt with helped me understand all about this, which was so nice of her!!! ;) After she had done all that work, and was offering those graphics for free (to those who downloaded them the right way) I sure didn't want to cause her any hardship! ;)

So, now I understand, that's just part of being a good neighbor on the internet. :wave I'm thankful the Lord used this experience for a learning opportunity for me. Hopefully my story will help someone else too. ;)

I'm off the topic of introductions... but it's important to know. Stephanie, thanks for asking! ;)

Krista, thanks again for all your help! :) :flower*

Have a wonderful day Ladies!

Blessings in Jesus! :girl

Re: Picture Posting
:sunshine Hi Shannon!

Once you've found a picture online simply right click with your your mouse and click "Save picture as...". :art This will then give you the option to save the picture to your computer or on a disk. Choose where you want to save your picture and then click "Save." It's important to make sure you can use your chosen picture and there are no copyrights on it. :) There are some great, Christian sites that offer free graphics for you to use! :girl

Now comes the uploading part. :jump You will need to find a "host". A host holds your picture online for you and gives you an address for your picture. There are several places that can host pictures for you. There are free photo album hosting sites where you can upload your picture. Or you could sign up for a free website and upload your picture to their servers. At your free website or photo album there will be a place for you to "Upload". Once you've found this place they will ask for you to browse through your computer files and find your picture. Once you've found your picture you'll select that and then they'll have a button that says "upload". That's what you'll want to click on. :multi Now your picture is on the internet. :clap

Okay, now how do you figure out your address? Well, let's use the photo album for an example... You should be able to browse through your album and find your picture. Once you've found it try right clicking on your picture. Once your little menu opens try clicking on "Properties". In the box that pops up it will have an "Address (Url)" section. This is your picture's internet address! :party

You can now put that address in your control center profile or signature! :flower*

I hope I've helped. You had a great question! It can sound difficult to explain but it's really simple. :) I've found the help files at my host's site extremely helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;) I refer to them off and on for those questions I just can't understand. :) I look forward to seeing your pictures!

Blessings to YOU!
In my sweet Saviour!

Re: My official Introduction
Okay, on threat of sounding like an airhead because of the "I can host for you" and then "No, I can't host for you" and then "Yes, I can host for you", let me say that I CAN host pictures now, so if any of you ladies need one hosted for your signature, just post the original link, and I'll host it for you:)

Sorry about all this:hide

I really do have it together better than this, I promise;)

Blessings,
Deb

Deb!
Deb,
Could you host a photo for me? :) I found one the name of it is "Day Dreaming" and it is a painting by Mark Arian, of two children by a pool of water. The link won't come up right :? , so I can't post it. :(

If you can host this for me, I'd be ever so grateful!!! :)

THANK-YOU!!!! :sunshine

LIC,
Kristalily :flower

(PS: You are probably wondering why I sign myself as "Kristalily". :flower* It is my Dad's nickname for me, and I just thought I'd use it! :multi )
