Name Change a waste of money Don't do it. If you are sitting on the fence about changing your name cause you thought of a cooler one, or it just doesn't look right. It could be 50 dollars you will never see again. And a waste of time. I changed my name not to escape a bad rep, but to get closure on having it changed by a GM months ago. So I call customer service about the service now being offered for 50 dollars. I tell them I want to change to Masturloo. They tell me it should be no problem with that spelling even before I decide to sign up for it. And if there is, a GM will help you pick one out that I would like. The name is OKed, and my credit card is billed. On Friday I see the name is Mastruloo as I log on. Ok, its a UI bug. I petition, then I petition again after that runs out. I e-mail, and try to call CS (number is disconnected, I'm shocked). Then I find out that someone saw that the name was changed again on the EQ name board, funny, I didn't pay for it twice. I received no E-mail about it. I did not get a tell from a GM. And most importantly, I was not offered that name, it was just given. I talk to a guide, who tells me that Lead GM's don't take petitions, but he will bump it to them to read later. I hope so, cause they are the only ones that have any say on names. I finally take to a lead GM. He says That I violated the name rules cause it is a title. Maybe in the redneck states where they can't spell. Then I tell him that there was a person who paid for Jababinks! before I paid for mine. He is still Jababinks btw. That person violated the rules twice in the same name. Could that have been made to sucker someone like me or you? hmmmmm could be. I also had to sit there in the bazaar while Mastermule was spamming his wears.
