New Cartoon?
Ok I heard there is a new cartoon coming out concerning spy troops. Is this true and will they use some of the oldschool characters?

Spy troops?
I've seen it a few places, but I'm not holding my breath.I would doubt its authenticity, but hopefully I'm wrong.
Though I'm not too sure that I would personally want a new Joe cartoon.Since it's pretty obvious they couldn't retain even a few of the original voice actors and probably wouldn't try to imitate them(or the storyline),we could end up quite disappointed.
Think what would have happened with ET 2?

another DIC debacle?
It is my sincere hope that this doesn't go through. I'd love to have a quality cartoon that has the look and feel of the original. But sadly, that's highly unlikely.

Here's what we'd see:
New character designs - Sunbow's and DIC's designs are both under copyright. Old favorites would have to be given a new look, both face and uniform.

New voices - Flint, Cobra Cmdr., Shipwreck, Roadblock, and others will be unrecognizable

No continuity/history - few if any references to Joe members, vehicles, or adventures prior to the beginning of the cartoon

Dumbed-down storylines - aimed at children who've grown up on Powerpuff Girls and who think of Johnny Bravo as an intellectual. Expect preschool-level humor and dialogue.

No need for old reruns - expect the classic to be eclipsed by the new show, at least as long as the new one's in production.

In other words, the same problems we associate with the DIC series of 1990-1991 are likely to resurface here. Personally, I'd rather have memories of the classic show and use my imagination for new adventures than either support or ignore a substandard production. (Strive for excellence, Hasbro! Remember excellence?)

I'm starting to get more excited than the issue merits. I'd better stop.
