New smithing trivials??
Dear Delang,
I was wondering if you can help me?? I'm so lost after the new blacksmithing patch. Suddenly things I couldn't make before are now trivial to me! Is there any updated info out there anywhere you know of? Plat is preciousssssssss to this lil wood elf and my bank accounts groaning at the waste of it of late. Any help you can provide would be awesome!

Re: New smithing trivials??
As a matter of fact, EQ Traders is very diligently keeping up with all the new trivials for the new smithing... here is the link:

www.eqtraders.com/recipes.htm

and choose the field of Smithing you need trivs on

Hope that helps :)

Re: New smithing trivials??
Greetings Delang.

Preface: Hermy's no slouch (well, maybe just a bit). This request is heavy, so if it's too much to ask, say so, it's kewl. Hermy will be happy to do the work himself. But you are offering, so he's gonna put ya to work :lol

Okay, having said that upfront, here's my question(s). In each tradeskill (however many there are), you make items. Some of those items are stackable items once made, and some are not. Some of the items that can be made, are made solely on parts bought from vendors, and some need items that have to be hunted. Lastly, some of the items that can be made are sellable for lots of money in game, and some are totally worthless. There, now that I have stated the obvious, here's what I need to know.

In each of the tradeskills, I need to know the very first item in each, that can be made with Purely Merchant bought materials (no hunting required), that are stackable when completed, and that have a good value on the open market in EQ. I need to know how much they would sell for at market as well.

I know that Brewing offers Heady Kiolas as an example. Trivial at level 46. All materials are merchant bought. They are stackable when done, and currently we are selling them for 50pp a stack (I heard last week someone offering 200pp a stack - if that's true, we are way underpriced). Me think that would be the first item organized by trivial levels in brewing that we could make of value to EQ market.

My goal: To have a stopping point in each tradeskill, whereby we train our guildies to. They are able to turn in tradeskill items as part of our program. So we want to have them trained to a certain level, so they can make the goods, and turn them in. And we want to have goods that will sell at market, and that we can offer on our site for sale.

Heavy request huh? If you can help by putting this information together for me, kewl. If it's too much to ask, say so, no problem.

Thankie in advance,
Mike - Hermygurt

No request is too big!!
Hey Hermie. I was almost expect a question or 2 from you LOL....but here is the information you seek. But first you must know, I didn't give info on 3 tradeskills. Alchemy, because you won't start making good money on it till lvls 35(?) and up. Reason is that unlike standard tradeskills, this trade skill cap is lvl based. All others are open ended, and you wont see good return on your investment till you can make SoW potions. Tinkering, because you can't make anything that can make a good profit until extremely high lvl skill. And I am pretty sure the skill cap on tinkering is based on level too. Jewelcrafting....for profit it is best left to high lvl enchanters....you pay the same amount for an enchanter to enchant the metal as you would for the metal itself, and the skill requires a MOUNTAIN of cash to raise at higher lvls when you actually start turning a profit. however I can supply you with info on these skills if you still need :)

So now the fun stuff....

Baking: Clumps of Dough. Good news and bad news...very low triv (17), very high yield(15 for basilisk eggs, not foraged) however you have to hunt for one of the ingredients. The ingrdients are Milk, flour and eggs. The eggs must be hunted. I highly suggest hunting for Basilisk eggs in Lavastorm. I rounded up and made about 300 clumps of dough in about an hour. All aspiring bakers need dough so there is money to be made....10-20pp a stack

Fishing: No profit....at all....

Fletching: I dont know what it is called but if you combine a Field Point Arrowhead, Wooden arrorw shaft, Parabolic cut fletching, and a Large groove noch, you get a low triv arrow (46) with high range. All merchant bought. Every Pullers favorite :) 5pp a stack 20pp a quiver full

Brewing: Heady Kiolas all the way :) 50pp a stack is good. 200pp was from a very desperate and ill-informed person (in my opinion)

Tailoring: Silk Swatches...all day, every day. 30pp a stack. Unfortunately Tailoring is the one skill where every recipe requires a hunted component. But Spidersilk Swatches is something I see someone trying to buy everyday....

Smithing: Banded...sometimes people still ask for metal bits or steel boning....but banded is still sought after by newbs in all walks of life. Standard price is 1pp per AC. Unfortunately there really is no low lvl stuff smithing can make you money with :(

This concludes my little guide here. If I missed something, or if I was unclear, or if you just want to call me ugly, let me know :) All things afformentioned are all stackable (except banded). Unfortunately some things you can't get out of hunting for. More than anything I hope this helps. But I have to go now. My lunch break is almost over :D . See you all online

Re: No request is too big!!
Greetings Delang :)

WOW, that was fast! Thankie.

Okay, Alchemy I would not even attempt anyway, because it's race/class specific, if I recall. Unfair to most guildies to allow just one type of character an advantage. But as you mentioned, they can make SOW potions, which last I heard render 100pp per dose of 10 shots.

Tinkering is also race/class specific to Gnomers like me, if I recall. I read somewhere that Aqualungs or Rebreathers are the popular item here, but I have never seen anyone request them. Good call to leave this trade out. Even Hermy hasn't practiced it.

Jewelry on the other hand, as you said, requires lots of money. We offer this tradeskill in our program, because me have a masterplan in the works. Currently, Hermygurt is done training in Electrum now, and will be taking up Gold and Platinum soon. I "reckon", hehe, we could allow Enchanted stacks of Silver, Electrum, Gold, and Platinum as acceptable turn in items, so that those of us who have practiced Jewelry, could use the bars without cost to make jewelry for Guild Profits. What I would need here, is the price we ought to chart for stacks of enchanted bars, if we wanted to offer them for sale to the EQ public?

But what to make, what to make, what to make, that's the important question. So, I went hunting, and found this awesome chart that displays graphically and with detail, all the fine stuff you can make with the craft. Have a lookie:

www.eqtraders.com/jewelry/Jewelry_by_Gemstone.html

Now, what me need at this point, is a fine-tooth analysis of each item. Which ones will sell well on the open market based on popularity? And if they do sell, how much is "normal" for each? It's a big chart, but I imagine not all of them would sell. Can you help me by tearing the chart apart? That's my next step in my masterplan.

Your work on the other trades is greatly appreciated. I shall immediately add Clumps Of Dough, I shall find out which arrow you mentioned, and add that as well. On the metal bits, and studs, what would be the pricing there? We wouldn't be able to carry the banded in inventory, regrettably, simply because it does not stack. But if we could at least introduce the metal bits and studs, that would make the skill worthwhile.

Looking forward to "Your Reply On A SOW", hehe :lol

Re: Re: No request is too big!!
Sorry about the wait. Here are the general guidelines I would stick to:

1) Stock up on ruby veils, star ruby veils, int rings & earrings, wis rings & earrings, ac & hp rings. Everything else do made-to-order. (not tons of requests for agi rings although there are some...)

2) Enchanted bars, great idea. You standard price to stay very competitive should be about 25%. So if you do a silver bar, price is about 10pp. So thats 12pp per bar, 125-150pp per stack, and so on...

3)The metal Bits and studs, I really wound charge more than 5-8pp per stack on... there is a demand but they are too easy to make

I hope I covered everything. If I didn't then I will be here :)
