New to the board -Hello!
Madam Moderator has requested an intro. I can do this.
My name is Michele, my spirit name is Batela. It's Hebrew for Daughter of God, according to the name book, although if anyone knows a little Hebrew, 'ela' means 'goddess'. My, how words change with the climate......
Anyway....
I live in Tucson, although I think of Seattle as home. I've been studing Mesopotamia for about 6 years after reading the Enuma Elish and falling in love with it!
I've been actively Pagan for almost 20 years, although I'm sure the nuns in catachism would say I've been a little heathen all my life.
Unlike the ancients, I do believe in reincarnation. I have too many memories NOT to believe. A major memory is set in a temple. When I read the texts, everything is so familiar. It's one of those feelings that you get when you are on the edge of remembering something but you just can't get it out.
At the moment, for the want of community and friends, I am in an ADF Druid grove. (www.ssg-adf.org -check the photos for Michele, tis I) All my friends are Druid. They won't let me sacrifice anything, but at least they let me play with the fire pit and carry a knife. And a flogger, but that may be too much info.....
I've been trying to work out a monthly ritual that I can do with my friends. They're humoring me on this. I've tried a web search but all I get is a Wiccan full-moon with Sumerian names. UGH! I've put together a small ritual using the household gods. It's nice, I think. It's extremely basic, written specifically as an intro to the Meso gods for people who don't know anything about them. (i.e.- my Grove).
My home altar is right where it's supposed to be -inside the front door in a nitch in the wall. (the fireplace). Inanna holds court with Asharah and a mother goddess figure that happens to be an uncut geode still filled with water. Honest, it's got a round belly and two smaller rocks stuck to the top. It fused together goddess knows how long ago. It looks for all the world like a pregnant woman.
Quetzlquatal guards the entry and Buddha guards my incense. Cernunnos was helping to guard but he fell and lost his head. (No moaning out there, I'm an equal opportunity worshipper)
For kicks, I write. Scifi mostly. I have an XFiles site that I haven't written for in about 3 years though. I'm doing my own stories now.
I also bake bread. No machines allowed in my kitchen, I do this all by hand. My friends dance for my bread.
I hope that's enough about me, being a writer I could go on for quite a while.
