Re: Next year's rally location?
How about Dartmouth. For those who do not know it, it is a beautiful river with the opportunity to both anchor or pick up a buoy several miles up river before or after the meet.
The Royal Dart Yacht Club Tel 01803 752496 am only at this time of year) has good facilities and catering, a wonderful view over the river, and would be able to let us have a room to ourselves.
Darthaven Marina (Tel. 01803 752545) say they could easily accomodate us so long as it was after the end of August (ie after The Regatta)
Re: Next year's rally location?
Dartmouth would be ideal for me and the other boats based in and around plymouth. If I could get the other nic owners to attend the meet and to leave Plymouth together a good race could be had.I've only met Les who owns wind whispers and is a member here. And the owner of the nic moored at the Yacht haven, there is another nic here at Mayflower but I've not met the owners yet.The other nic that I know of in these parts moors in the Tamar river but I'm not sure where.
2006 Rallys
I would not be keen on Lulworth Cove for an overnight stop. I have only been in twice in the last thirty years but on each occasion (in calm weather) rolled my guts out!
As to Alderney the same applies in addition to which I do not know if one could raft up a number of boats for intership visits.
If it is the Channel Islands I would go for St Peter Port.
I think you will find they will keep an area of pontoon clear.
They were doing it for their celebration in September.
Re: Next year's rally location?
Peter, don't reckon there's much point this time of year think we will have more luck around about April when all the boats are back in the water.
Re: Next year's rally location?
Bonita
One can not leave arranging the meet until April as the club and marina would be booked up.
I now have 7 boats saying they will come, 4 probably (including you?) and 2 possibly. This has given me a basis on which to make the reservations in Dartmouth.
Will you let me have your e-mail address and name as Bonita does not appear on the member's list. I am on peter@foston.org
It is somewhat laborious talking detail through the website.
Peter
I'm sorry about the time its taken me to reply but I had a major problem with my laptop although its still under warranty Sony took an age to repair it.
Re: Next year's rally location?
Gentlemen (and Ladies),
I've just seen on, campernicholson@yahoogroups.com a posting for the nicholson 35 association discussing a Rally the 2/3 Sept. 2006 at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, Shepards Wharf Marina, Cowes. I've taken the liberty of inquiring as to their interest in the possibility of their being joined by their little sisters (the 31) and suggested that if they didn't consider us party crashers, there might be an interest on the part of some of our association membrs, local to the area (not me), in possibly joining them. I invited any interest, or possible invitation, to express same via this website. Don't mean to step on any toes here, just thought I'd send up a trial balloon. I could be interesting. Do you think Jeremy will be going to said event?
