Nic 31 Design History
Jens @ Tramontane,
In response to your e-mail response to my distribution of correspondence with a member of the Nicholson 31 design team, Mr Stuart Roy, I thought I would take this public.
Shortly before this website was hacked, I had posted the notion (regarding a stability curve) that Stuart Roy might indeed be approached to investigate and publish the numbers for our boats. I'm not sure, at that time, that there was much, if any interest. Once again I am soliciting you and fellow members for an opinion as to whether we should ask Stuart to do some work on this. I'd be happy to do the inquiry. I don't know how much work this involves, how much it might cost, or if he might be prevailed upon to donate services, etc. etc. ??? What do you think?

Once again, I would like to get a stability curve of our boat. That's the thing I miss. Although Jeremy Lines told me that it must be similar to the one of a Nic 32, it would be nice to see how our boat performs. Please go ahead whatever the costs are. I can't believe that nowbody else is interested. Jens

Okay, not at any costs. Pactical use? None, but it would be nice. Just to see on a drawing what we already know or would expect. It completes the informations we can get about our boat. Jens

Re: Nic 31 Design History
It would be very pleasing to have not merely the stability curve, but also the other numbers, including the comfort factor, for comparison with other good boats; it is as well to understand why our boats are good, as well as simply to know that they are so. Carry on!
Tony
PS. I see you managed to keep up an average speed of more than 5 knots on a 21 day passage. Congratulations to both you and the Blueprint!

Andy Et Al....I have written to Stuart Roy...suggested he look up this website... and perhaps discuss with Jeremy.... and hopefully get back to me and/or respond directly here. We will wait and see.
Re: Nic 31 Design History
I am in receipt of a response to my inquiry to Stuart Roy re his possible contribution to this website. He expressed some concern that I might be taking some liberties in the publication of his correspondence with me, regarding his story of his involvement with the design of our boats. He asked that I copy his response directly to those individuals who expressed an interest, (via this website thread), in his potential continued involvement visa vis stability curves etc. etc. (and necessary renumeration therefore),and not post it here. To the extent that this has been possible the 5 individuals concerned have, hopefully, been noticed. OK. I stand admonished and corrected (yet still somewhat mystified), with apologies for my dogged interest, to all.
Cheers.
