Paladin or Dark Knight? Well? heh, in FFIV you gotta admit.. when he was a Dark Knight, the weaponry (though being rather limited for its time in the game) was unreal for Cecil to have.. i mean c'mon.. a Sword that can cast DEATH on most enemies in the game, sure his Armour and Defense werent crash hot, but he did manage himself rather well against a group of moderately strong monsters and come out the other end reletively untouched, heh..
Now, as for the Paladin conversion, it was mandatory for the game to continue on, he got better stats, HP, the ability to cast weak White Magic (only 6 spellz total, heh) and was able to weild more then a few kinds of weapons along with being able to wear all kinds of Armour, thus giving him better Attack/Defense overall, but the instant i saw the gaming sprite for it.. i was like... WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS THIS!?! instead of the cool looking Knight gear, he has some shiney gold looking Armour on and he wears a girl's Tiara on his head, for whatever the hell reason.. which overall made him look like a fag, which ehh.. didnt impress me much as far as the game goes, but aside from the girly look.. he is effective against all kinds of monsters with that Raganork equipped.. hehe.
Now uh.. make a choice.. i personally would've prefered him to stay a DK for the rest of the game, but have the options available to use better equipment.. but eh, thats how the game goes i suppose.Show results
IMO DK rules the game......you get to have darkwave (in the Jap version), you look cool..and you get to be called an Evil bastard......how can it get more better then that???

Anyways, DK all the way. Reason one... if I said anything else I wouldn'y be in the forum for long.
Second, dude! It's all about the darker things in life. The Dark Knight, black wizard, dark lancer...anything with dark, or black automaticly owns anything... "lightish" or "godly" crap.

There was a time when I would choose Paladin over the Dark Knight. However, a few fellows on TFF persuaded me with power and glory. My greed and ambition lead me to believe that the Dark Knight is better. In fact, he actually is cooler, and why not? He is the original Cecil, if not the true one.

bah paladins suck. Cecil was ment to be a dark knight and I'm sure if he really wanted to he could just have killed off everyone and gained the power of the crystals for himself.

Dark Knight.... Cecil was supposed to be a Dark Knight...
1. had the King of baron not been brainwashed, the people of Mystidia wouldnt have despised Cecil for taking their crystal, therefore they wouldnt have made him gain their trust.
2. Cecil was doing the whole evil bit against his own will, which was the reason why he was discharged as head of the Red wings..
3. He was so much cooler with his dark armour.... stupid faggy tiara.

Personally I like the change. When he was the Dark Knight he was a pitiful whimp feeling sorry for himself just because he robbed a bunch of monks.

Aye, he didn't grow some balls till he cast off the darkness.
Personally, I thought the sprite for the paladin sucked as well, but I like the Paladin class over most other classes in any RPG anyways. The tough armor and swords, and a little white magic to keep you alive is always a good thing. Dark knights/Blackguards in other games get the opposite...a little black magic...and why do you need that when you're already an offensive giant?

I'm the only one that said either one is fine so far....this worries me...
But anyway, case being, Cecil was truly a Dark Knight, but however, it takes a certain something to allow someone to become a paladin. And plus, the DK option wasn't there for power and glory, it was merely an element to be used. It just so happens that his actions at the time were forced to be what they were. The only problem I have with the Paladin sprite (other than the purple hair that should've been white, wtf??) was the Tiara, other than that, I thought the Paladin armor was pretty kickass. Not to mention I've always been fond of the whole "Warrior of Light" bit. But, with that ability to be a Paladin lies the possibility of a new Dark Knight, after all, the brightest light makes the darkest shadow, ne? Hmmm....ok, just started a whole new argument in my head, I'll stfu now.
