Press Release - Sovereign Principality of Lavalon
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SOVEREIGN PRINCIPALITY OF LAVALON DECLARED
Lavalon, 16/08/2003 – The Sovereign Principality of Lavalon has declared its formation and right to nationhood in a Declaration of Formation and Sovereignty signed on the 15th of August 2003. The nation’s first Sovereign Prince was declared with the establishment of a provisional charter, Lavalon’s citizens adopted the charter unanimously.
The Declaration of Formation and Sovereignty asserts that with the right of all people to a nationality and the right to change that nationality, Lavalon is a sovereign nation formed by the sentiment of its citizens. Whilst people identify with a nation, a nation exists.
The Provisional Charter creates the position of Sovereign Prince, assigning it initially to Kieran Bennett. The Charter also prescribes an expiration date (16th of March 2004) by which time a referendum must be held on Lavalon’s future state form. Until this time government is vested in the position of the Sovereign Prince.
The Sovereign Prince in launching the provisional national website and Yahoo Group cordially invites all members of the micronational community to visit the Sovereign Principality of Lavalon’s internet presence. The Sovereign Prince appreciates all input, advice and criticism from the esteemed members of the micronational community.
