Prismacolor Newbie!
Hi, I am a Prismacolor artist, I live in Milwaukie, OR. I do portraits, pets and jsut about any subject. I also use graphite pencil. You can see some of my work at picturetrail.com/valeriekay. Also I have another website in progress. I recently completed a portrait of my great nephew, Dylan, I will soon add it to my sites. I am now working on some graphite illustrations for abook publisher, they want to see some people (family type setting). Also one of the top magazines wants to see a dinosaur in color. I will persue it after I finish the people drawings.
I wanted to share a tip with all of you. SAVE THOSE SHORT PENCILS! I save mine and with an X-Acto knife, I carefully cut into the wood lengthwise in 2 or 3 places then take the lead out. I have a divided tackle box I keep my leads in. I insert the leads into a grease pencil lead holder (they sell plastic lead holders, like a mechanical pencil). I have 100s of leads and use them all the time for coloring large areas, they come in handy. American Artist Magazine featured my "tip" in one of their magazines. Also a paper tortillion dipped in turpentine blends the colors together. I recently discovered their "blender pencil" it comes in handy too.
I look forward to reading your posts and hearing your ideas!
Take care,
Val
