Quarter panels
Spring is around the corner and I'll be starting on my 70rr. It has rust on the quarter panels behind the rear wheel, and up and over the rear wheel. I believe I need to put on rear quarters but I talked to a body man and he thinks I should just weld a patch panel in. I've only been able to find either a complete quarter panel or just the patch behind the rear wheel. I would need a patch panel that goes up and over the wheel opening. I could buy quarters and cut what I need out, but if I buy quarters what not put em on complete. What do ya think? Also, where is the best place to buy quarters or patch panels?

Re: Quarter panels
You will need to buy full quarters as the only patch panels I have seen are the lower rear section like you said.As far as putting on the whole panel as opposed to just cutting out what you need it`s really up to you or your body man.I prefer to put on the full panels so the welded seam is along the top body line where it is easier to control warpage from the heat caused by welding.Others prefer to keep as much of the original metal as possible and just cut a couple inches past the rusted area and then cut the new panel to fit exactly into place and butt weld it.Where to buy them doesn`t matter that much as they all get them from the same manufacturers.Just don`t get anything from Jim`s Auto Parts in NH. :(

Re: Quarter panels
find a donor car and cut out the patches from it! worth the time looking, fullq's is alot of work and aligning and big$$$$,repop's suck anyhow,if you try to take off the original q's to put in repops i 'll tell you right now you will find stuff you never dreamed could be there, and you will end up puttin' in trunkpans cause that's the way it just seems to happen, ever heard "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
