Mrs. Lyn, I was wondering if I could pick your brain about herbs? Do you know of any that would soothe my yucky belly due to the beginning stages of this pregnancy? I so appreciate that you have put me on your daily prayer list! Today has been a better day than yesterday! In Messiah, Sheryl |

I was quite into medicinal herbs for a while, one thing that kept coming up in the book about pregnancy, is that a tea made from rasberry leaves will help with labor pains. It also gave the suggestion to freeze the tea and take the ice cubes to the hospital room.
I hope I helped! God Bless, Blooming in His Care or Jenny |

Sheryl, Yes, Sheryl, Father has given us a wonderful answer that is simple and safe. Ginger will help your nausea problems. I think it is absolutely wonderful how our Heavenly Father has provided for His Children. Here is a little information on Ginger. Ginger helps settle the nerves of the stomach, due to irritation. In order for Ginger to work effectively it must have a heating effect. The heating effect is easy to identify, you will feel the heat on your taste buds. If the ginger does not have a heating effect it is old and will not be effective. So that is a little information to help you know that you've got good ginger. Ginger may be found in different forms. Here is a few: Tea...Traditional Medicinals Company makes very good ginger tea.Capsules... You can find these at Wal-Mart. They are not as effective, due to the fact that your tongue will not have the heating sensation. Why? Because they're in a capsule and the ginger doesn't come in contact with your tongue. Crystaline Ginger... This is a candied ginger found in the produce section at most grocery stores. You just place a small piece of ginger in your mouth and chew on it with a little water. This will be hot! Tinctures... Tri-Light Herbs makes a wonderful, handy, and convienient ginger formula called, "Morning Soothe." The Mercantile will be carrying this product. We now have it in and we will be putting it online for purchase. Our favorites are the crystaline ginger and the tincture. They are easy to carry with you at all times. These two work very effectively and usually in 10-20 minutes all symptoms are gone! PTL! Another tip is... to use an ice bag on the pit of your stomach. This helps calm the gastric nerve, that is irritated, resulting in the nausea. We've been known to use frozen bags of veggies, straight from the freezer! LOL! There are many factors that cause nausea during the pregnancy. One factor that stands out above the others is fluctuating blood sugar levels. The blood sugar levels drop easily, during pregnancy. One of the number one symptoms of low blood sugar is nausea! A carbohydrate with a protein works very well, as a companion to aid in your relief. If you need some ideas, on some snacks, just let us know and we'll brainstorm here, together. One more thing, that I'd like to mention, before I go... it is best to take the ginger before rising in the morning, about 10-20 minutes before you get up. Make sure you have water at your bedside, your ginger, and a cracker. Use these three water, ginger, and cracker before rising. Then rest for the 10 minutes, and give some time for it to work in your system. This is a good time to praise the Lord for His provisions! I do hope and pray that this helps you, Sheryl! God Bless You and take care. In Messiah, Mrs Lyn God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 |

Dear Mrs. Lyn, Thank-you so much for all the info. on ginger. I looked for the crystaline ginger and could not find it at either grocery store I shop at. I was able to get some of the ginger tea. I will try that today. I am interested in the tincture as soon as you could sell it to me! I am very interested in some ideas for snacks. I had heard of the carb/protein combo. I need some ideas for late in the day and bedtime. I seem to be best in the morning but by late afternoon I am not feeling so well. Thanks Jenny for the raspberry tea idea. I have used raspberry tea in past pregnancies but had not heard of freezing it into icecubes and bringing it with me to the hospital. That may be something I will want to try! I so appreciate all the help. This pregnancy just seems to be a little harder than the rest. In Messiah, Sheryl |

Hi Sheryl, Sorry, On snacks some ideas are. A sliced apple with nut butter.(we like almond butter). Some stuffed celery, like philly cheese spread in the celery cavity, or a nut butter. Here is a nice little spread (below)to have on hand for crackers or to put on your celery. A half of a turkey sandwich and a small dish of apple sauce is a good night time snack. Yogurt with granola sprinkled in it, is also a good snack, esp. for bedtime. Any one else have some ideas? Let share!!Lentil spread 2 cups water- for boiling 1 cup dried lentils (rinsed and sorted for stones) No fat-Mayo chopped onions(if desired) little celery chopped fine garlic- chopped very fine green peppers chopped very fine( if you like) salt pepper Cook lentils till tender, drain off water and let cool.Smash the cooked lentils till smooth ( use a blender and add mayo and whiz). Stir in chopped onions, celery and any of the above ingredients you like. Spread on whole wheat bread or on crackers. Makes a nice healthy, flavorful, inexpenxive snack. Mrs Lyn Have a great day!! Dear Mrs. Lyn, Thank-you so very much for your prayers. They are so appreciated! I am feeling a little bit better. I have had a few more good days which makes the bad days easier to take. I have had the ginger tea a few times and it seemed to help a little. I have not found anything that helps a lot. I am wearing my wrist "sea bands" everyday and since I have, I have not thrown up. I am now 12 weeks along and hope that by 14-15 weeks this morning sickness will be done! Once again Thank-you so much for your prayers---I know they have seen me through this time! In our Messiah, Sheryl
