Question Ok, its early and my thoughts are really cloudy, but isn't there something in the Bible about someone being turned over to a reprobate mind? I can't recall the reason it was done. I was just thinking about how NUHERE wont believe the truth, and how this is a possible cause. Just a speculation. Its really sad though, to think about it, how he knew the truth and now he blasphemes against God. Mark 3:28,29 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

Re: Question
Jesus is specifically addressing the Pharisees who said: "He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils." The Pharisees are so screwed up that when they witness the work of the Holy Spirit, rather than admit that they are wrong and Jesus IS Lord, they ascribe the work to Satan. It is the ultimate blasphemy and it is right to Jesus' face "Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit."
I think one would have to be a first-hand witness to a miracle of the Holy Spirit (and probably one from Jesus himself) and ascribe it to Satan to run the risk you describe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Re: Question Well, as I see it, it's not really a risk at all, just a choice. Choose to have backwards thoughts, or not. I also feel, or hope, that such a choice can be undone with an opposing choice, even if such an event is so uncommon. As for the reference, I don't see it having anything to do specifically with Jesus' miracles. In fact, the verse Mary mentions is in a passage that says something quite different. It says the God is evident in creation, and it's the denial of his existence, replacement with idols, etc. that is the problem. In other words, while the Pharisees are included, the verse is not at all limited to them. Re: Question I agree. I brought it up because I have had people say that they think they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit by having doubt or having thoughts that it is total bunk. In other words, fallen pessimistic humans latch on to this passage and expand the definition of Holy Spirit blasphemy to the point of their own despair. It's the old (and sinful) belief that God stands poised with a hair-trigger shotgun aimed at you ready to blast at the slightest askew thought. One of my favorite Seinfeld's is when George is talking to his psychiatrist because he is worried about his eminent success with his sitcom: George: "I know something bad is going to happen! God would never let me be successful! He'd kill me first!" Psychiatrist: "But you don't believe in God, George." George: "I do for the bad stuff!" I believe unfortunatley that is how many of us at times (myself included) think about God. Edited by: Taemir Arketon |

Re: Question I should have noticed this earlier, but Mary, you are seriously understating "reprobate mind." I know you don't mean to, but what the Bible is talking about is full-on corruption of morality. Stubborn opinions don't quite qualify. |
