Regulus Black - 6th Year
Name: Regulus Arcturus Black
Age: 16
Year: 6th
House: Slytherin
Other: Skilled Dueler

Physical Description: Whilst not as tall as his brother Sirius, Regulus is certainly a good height for his age; he stands at 5' 8" and still growing. Regulus also shares a very similar build and face to his older brother - however his eyes are an icey blue like his mothers, and his dark brown hair is long enough to put into a ponytail. He keeps himself well groomed, mostly to please his parents and keep up his upperclass Slytherin appearance.

Personality: Regulus is the baby of the family, and so has always felt the need to prove himself. He has a thirst for knowledge and power, wanting to be sucessful so that he can make a name for himself instead of living in his family's shadow. However, because he is the younger son, he gets coddled by his parents, and he wants to do what he can to make them proud of him.

Being in Slytherin has effected Regulus more than he'd care to admit - his Black family temper and stubborn streak has become more sharp, his comebacks are cold and cutting, and his mischievious pranks often have maliscious intent. Most of this is because he feel's this is the way he must act to fit in, and if you get him away from the other Slytherins you'll find he's quiet, maybe a little cold and warey. A prime example is the way Regulus often acts as though Sirius is the bane of his life, however, inside he's worried about how his brother's actions effect the family, and how distant they've become. He knows it doesnt help that their houses are constantly fighting, bringing the brothers into conflict too often.

Regulus enjoys playing Quidditch - beater is his favourite position, however he's never considered trying out for the team...he's not as outgoing and self assured as people would expect from a member of the Black Family. In fact, Regulus is quite quiet - he spends quite a bit of time and effort on his school work, not wanting to disappoint his parents.

Likes: Quidditch, Dueling, Reading, Distinguishing Himself.
Dislikes: Family pressure, Mudbloods

Family History: On June 18th Regulus was born into the highclass, pureblood Black family - his older brother is Sirius, his cousins are Bellatrix, Andromeda and Narcissa Black. As one of the youngest members of this rather large family, Regulus has always felt the need to prove himself - in fact, his ambition, thirst for power and his pureblood lineage helped him to become a member of Slytherin House.

Regulus's family life became strained when both the boys were at Hogwarts, as Sirius began to really rebel against the family traditions. Eventually over the summer between Reggies 5th and 6th year Sirius simply walked out of the Black House, after a huge row with the family. Despite his parents ranting, fuming and threats to disown Sirius, Regulus hasn't seen or heard from his brother since.

Regulus used to look up to his older brother, and in fact, really liked hanging around with him, but things have changed. Regulus now finds himself trying to live up to his parents heightened expectations of him, making up for the fact that their first born son is such a 'disappointment'.

Social History: Given his Pureblood status, Regulus is expected to mix with people 'worthy' of him - There aren't many purebloods in his year, and as Sirius began growing distant from him, Regulus turned to the only person he could...his favourtie cousin Narcissa. Over the 5 years at Hogwarts, he and Narcissa have grown close - they've found that when talking to eachother they can drop the 'slytherin facade' and be themselves, which has helped Regulus emmensely since Sirius walked out on the family.

Through Narcissa, Regulus has become 'friends' with the now 7th years, Lucius Mafoy and Severus Snape.

RP Sample: Standing in the middle of the common room, Regulus tried to remember where he left his Potions book. His gaze traveled the tables at the far end of the common room. Not there. Finally he spotted it, on a pile that was stacked precariously on top of a bookshelf. He rolled his eyes, wandering over and snatching the book up. He put the book in his bag, then hurried out - he didn't want to be late for class.

As Regulus stepped out into the dank corridor, the common room 'door' slid back into place. He was always a little worried that he might not get out of the doorway in time and the wall would slide down, hitting him on the head. It had not happened yet in 5 years of his school life, so he didn't really have to worry.

Regulus walked down the corrdor, having to fight the flow of students just departing from a potions lesson. A familiar voice in the din made Regulus cringe inside. Sirius. Regulus could see him now, with his group of friends, making a spectacle of himself as always. He (Reg) didn't understand what was going on with his brother, but he didn't expect a greeting when they crossed paths. It had been this way for a few years now - Sirius was drifting further from the family, leaving Regulus to keep their parents happy. He thought that there was once a time he could talk to Sirius about it, but he felt that that time had passed...now Regulus was just left to wonder. Did his brother hate him? He didnt know.

Regulus passed by Sirius quietly, his brother not paying him any attention. Despite Regulus's cold attitude, it still stung and he couldn't shrug it off. He shook his head sadly as he reached the potions room. He shot Sirius's retreating figure a sad look before he headed into the room, closing the door behind him.
