Remembering Manwoody
This has been a strange weekend for me. On one hand, it has been wonderful, my wife and I spent a few days in the mountains with friends and had a great time, full of good fellowship and food, and the spectacular natural beauty of the Grampians. But, on the other, in the week leading up to today and all this weekend, my thoughts have constantly been drawn to the significance of this day.

However, though I still miss Michael, I have refused to let it subtract from the joy and laughter we had this week, not the least because I know that Michael would have been upset, no he would have been offended, if he knew that people who claimed to be his friend were letting his death stop them from enjoying life. Because, that was very much who Michael was, a man who sought to enjoy everything that life brought his way. Whether it was good food, good company, good debate or good whiskey, he lived these things to the full. While I cannot help but feel sadness, I think that the best testimonial I can offer to him is to let the memories I have enhance the way I live my life, not detract from it. That is, I truly believe, what he would want.

I find it hard to credit that it has been two years since I got a phonecall telling me the news. I can still remember the shock, and the immediate reaction I had of heading to my computer and coming here to find out what had happened. I can remember the emails from my friends here, and the way that people shared their feelings of grief with one another. And that is why I wanted to come here today, to remember Michael with people whose lives he touched as he touched mine.

Though it has been two years, he is still in my thoughts. I often wonder what he would have thought of certain things, or what he would have said to certain people. There have been many times where I have been suprised not to see a post written with his dry and subtle wit (especially in a thread that may have gotten a little out of hand). I continue to pray for his family as much as I can, as I wonder if I (who makes no claim to being anything special in Michael's life) feel this way, how must they feel? And I continue to be grateful, that even if for only a brief while, I had to the chance to know, and even meet, such a man.

We miss you, Lord Manwoody.

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."

"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?"

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Re: Remembering Manwoody
Although, I did not know Manwoody, my thoughts and prayers are with those who did.

Glad to see that you are still alive Ser Cam. ;)
