Face your deepest, darkest fears in the world's first psychological thrill ride!
Based on Universal Pictures’ phenomenally popular “Mummy” films, and coinciding with Universal Studios Hollywood’s 40th Anniversary, Universal Studios Hollywood and “Mummy” writer-director Stephen Sommers have collaborated to create the world’s first psychological thrill ride and Universal Studios Hollywood’s first-ever roller coaster: “Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride.”
Not just a roller coaster, “Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride” will tap into rider’s primal fears through immersion in a total multi-sensory environment. Utilizing animatronics, sophisticated motion picture technology, state-of-the-art ride, audio and robotics engineering, the ride will play upon common human phobias:
Lysgophobia … fear of the dark
Entomophobia … fear of insects
Tachophobia.. … fear of speed
Acrophobia … fear of heights
Demonophobia … fear of evil spirits
Necrophobia … fear of death
THE LEGEND, THE CURSE, THE THRILL-RIDE EXPERIENCE:
The hair-raising adventure begins within the cavernous Tomb of Imhotep, the final resting place of Egypt’s legendary Keeper of the Dead. Upon entering the dark chamber, guests will find themselves ushered into a queue line flanked with the smoldering skeletons of gold-digging tomb raiders who have succumbed to the Mummy’s deadly curse. A warning message will confront them: "Death will come on swift wings to whomever violates this tomb.”
As foretold by legend, entrance into the forbidden precinct will trigger a solar eclipse and the reawakening of the entombed Imhotep, intent upon seeking revenge on trespassers.
The only means to escape is aboard 16-passenger mine cars. Guests who board them embark upon a harrowing rapid-speed thrill-ride through Imhotep’s dark world.
ARNOLD VOSLOO RESURRECTION:
Arnold Vosloo, the internationally acclaimed actor who breathed life into the evil Mummy in filmmaker Stephen Sommers’ “The Mummy” and “The Mummy Returns” films, reprises his starring role in “Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride,” lending his voice to the characterization of Imhotep.
WARRIOR MUMMIES:
Four Warrior Mummies, each tipping the scale at a hefty 450-lbs., will free-fall 20 feet in the air at a 12 G-Force deceleration as guests navigate the coaster track. The Warrior Mummies will brake at a 12 G-Force in the last 9” of their descent, coming to a dead stop at just inches above guests’ heads. The combined G-Force with the actual weight of each Warrior Mummy translates to each weighing the equivalent of 4,800-lbs.
EGYPTIAN ARTIFACTS AND AUTHENTICITY:
“Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride” themed elements will be the most elaborate ever created for a thrill ride experience. Universal Studios’ ride producers traveled to London’s British Museum and worked with leading experts in Egyptology from the Oriental Institute of Chicago to assure the authenticity of the ride’s shadowy, curse-ridden interior.
“BOOK OF THE DEAD”
The “Book of the Dead” is known to Egyptians as Reu nu pert em hru, which translates to mean The chapters of coming forth by day. The “Book of the Dead” first appeared in Egyptian Tombs around 1600 B.C. and was intended to be read by the deceased during their journey to the afterlife and the Underworld.
Throughout “Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride,” The “Book of the Dead” will serve as a point of reference. A copy of the Book is visible at the attraction’s main entrance and is the original “Book of the Dead” prop from the “Mummy” movie.
IMHOTEP’ S MINION APPARITIONS:
12 30’ x 20’ black light apparitions of Imhotep’s minions are dispersed throughout the Netherworld portion of the attraction. The Warrior Mummy apparitions will emerge from total darkness, appearing to guests in flashing split-second blinding images.
MINE CAR RIDE VEHICLES:
16 passengers will be secured into a mine-car ride vehicle, with up to five vehicles navigating the ride track at one time.

NUMBER OF CRAWLING SCARABS: 1000, including projection system
AMOUNT OF STEEL: 600 tons
LENGTH OF RIDE: Two and a half of the scariest minutes ever experienced in an indoor roller coaster thrill-ride.
RAPID SPEED: “Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride” will catapult guests along on a linear induction motor ride track at rapid speeds through virtual darkness. At over 45 mph, “Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride” will be the fastest indoor thrill ride west of the Mississippi.
MUSICAL SCORE:
Oscar-nominated musical composer Alan Silvestri, who created the original score for “The Mummy” and “The Mummy Returns,” also composed the original music for “Revenge of the Mummy—The Ride.”
