I saw Ryan a couple months ago when he was in NJ. HE was good but my unbiased ears were tainted by the horrific opener. That band made my ears bleed (and if they were any louder, I'm sure that bleeding would have been literal). So after they played for about 1 1/2 hours, Ryan and his band finally came out. I was so displeased at that point that I couldn't really enjoy their set.
And maybe it's just the NJ crowd, but his fans were...interesting.
What I did hear was good. I'll have to go to another show to give him another shot and erase the bad memories.

actually, i'm not a fan (surprise). i'm just not into that jazzy stuff, but i know he's a great performer and very talented. i'll go, i'll tape. i'm expecting a small crowd because no one here knows him, which makes for a good recording.

juliana, have you heard him before? see it's kind of weird for me. i've met him and i really him and his talent, even though i don't care for his music because it's just a little too jazzy. but i'll be recording his show here and i'm guessing the crowd will be small so it should mean a good recording.

no, i havn't heard him. but i do like jazz a lot, so i'd probably like him. the way you describe him sounds exactly the same way i feel aboiut matt nathanson. i love seeing him live because he's got talent, and a great personality, but his music is a little too girly. if he ever comes to california, i'll check him out.

Whoa... I'm guessing the rest of the people were out of picture-range. Otherwise, there's more people in his band than in the crowd.

I love intimate shows. But I hope that the crowd was a good one, despite its size. Always nice to enjoy the show with others who are also enjoying it.
