Anyone else doing midwest stuff?
I live in St. Louis, so I'll do that one and maybe Indy or Chicago. We shall see.

Re: SUMMER TOUR ANNOUNCED!!!!!!!!!!
I'm toying with the Washington dates or just skipping out... I mean, why go broke seeing a show that I've already seen twice before? As it is, I think I may try to get rid of my Edmonton ticket.
I was also looking at the NY dates, but since I fell in love with Chicago I'm afraid to go to NY-- I wouldn't leave (which is why I've decided to move there in 16 months).
I'm not going to decide until the pre-sale is announced.

tallyn,
i saw you mention the NY dates. the NY date is on long island, not in the city. kind of a pain in the ass to get to and pretty much everyone i know HATES driving on long island (incl. myself). it's either train to bus or train to random LI taxi (SKETCHY) to the venue.
on the plus side, the coliseum is about 5 minutes (not incl. traffic) from roosevelt field which is a ridiculously large mall. it's kind of insane actually.
fun facts from the venue's site:
- The oval shape building comes equipped with sixty-seven pairs of existing doors, which can disperse a capacity crowd of 16,000 in seven to eight minutes.
- Among the special features in the construction of the arena are that it has no interior columns & no obstructed sight lines.
...
it's weird that he's not playing jones beach. i haven't been to the coliseum since 1994-ish when i saw the islanders play the canucks, but i'll be there for this show.

Re: NC in the House!
Joc, thanks for the info. I'll definitely keep it in mind for 2008, but I think I've concluded that I can only travel to crappy towns the rest of the time that I have to live here in Montana (it's just too painful going home to a town that I hate). Is it wrong that I've already started packing for the move to NYC?

the city that never sleeps
haha, tallyn. no, it's not wrong that you've started packing. why exactly & for how long are you in MT? i know i've been there, but i can't remember which national park is there. yellowstone?
i also understand the not-wanting-to-go-somewhere-more-desirable-because-where-you-live-sucks thing. that happened to me whenever i visited my friends in ATL after i'd lived in ohio.
and i do love living in new york city for the most part, but i miss fresh air. you don't realize you don't have it until you leave the city and go to a place like GEORGIA and sit outside and just breathe.
i'm also not excited about the snow for tomorrow. it's not a lot (5-7 in.) but it really hampers my ability to get around by myself.

Re: the city that never sleeps
I've only been here 6 months... I figure I have another 16 before I graduate and can leave. I'm here for my masters program-- I play the clarinet and my current and prior clarinet instructors are the two leading students of the former best clarinet instructor in the country. Since she, the best, just retired and I want to follow her school of playing, I decided to go with her top students. It makes sense, I promise. Unfortunately, Missoula and Albuquerque both are completely LAME! Since there are a couple great music programs in the city, and it's a city, I think it's a logical place for me to go to(or maybe Boston, but even that's close enough to work for me).
Clean air is overrated.
As for national parks, I'm sandwiched inbetween Yellowstone to the south and Glacier to the north. I haven't been to either, but I'm not really a fan of nature so it's fine by me.
But, to keep this a little on topic, I've heard wonderful things about the Gorge, so it should be a fun venue to see John. I drove by it twice back in August/September and it's interesting the way it sits in a gorge over the Columbia river. I'm almost tempted to fly out to Seattle and rent a car. There's still plenty of time to decide.

Re: Time for a Pow-Wow
Yeah, I'm not thrilled with how they're doing the presale. I figured it was b/c of scalpers but this is screwing the rest of us over big time. I thought about doing multiple shows, but the chance to get good seats for all of them are severely hindered b/c they all go on sale at the same time!
I even considered doing the two Red Rocks shows (mainly b/c I want to see a show at the venue). But this GA seating thing does not sound appealing at all.
Guess I'll just be trying for one of the NJ shows and hoping that one works out well.
Re: Time for a Pow-Wow
I wouldn't mind the all in one day thing so much if (a) it was on a Saturday instead of a Friday and (b) if the pre-sales for the shows that are in one state were at separate times.
This is difficult. I have a week and a day to decide what shows I'm going to go to.
