Second operation?
Hi,

my son was born with an extra digit (a split thumb). When he was one years old the smaller one was removed. The operation was quick and successful. The thumb is a bit smaller than the "normal" one and a bit crooked (bent). The doctor said we shouldn't have another operation until like 13-14, and only if my son asked for it.

Do you have any experience with this? Can the finger be straightened out easily with a surgery. When would be the best time?

He sometimes complains about the finger, thinks it's broken :D (he's now 4 years old). If the finger was straight, no one would notice anything even though it's a bit smaller.

ps.
Also, do you tell your child about the extra finger at early age or only when the child asks?
