Sex with minors......
I wanted to link the story for this, but I can not get it to work. No laughing Huge  .
Singer R. Kelly was arrested when a video tape was sent to the Chicago Sun Times. The video tape contained child porn(him engaging in sexual acts with a at the time 14 year old girl). Both the girl and the girls folks say that its not her in the video. The girls father was on Kelly's staff at the time.
I tend to believe that IF the tape is real, it is the girl and her family knew about it.
Is there anyone to blame for this? The girl? R. Kelly? Maybe the girls folks? Or is it just somehting that society almost has come to expect? Look at all the "school girl" images and fantasies that are out there. The porn with the pig tales.
What are your thoughts on this?

Hey Marie...try using CTRL-C to *copy* a link from your Address bar, & then use CTRL-V to *paste* it into your posts - I've heard that it works like a charm.
As far as I'm concerned, as long as the girl was NOT FORCED, the sexual act itself shouldn't be a crime. My mom & I already went a few rounds on that one...she says that "Nobody should be allowed to have sex with a child!!!" ...but I disagree, because the common definition of a "child" doesn't take into consideration the fact that our teenagers begin to have sexual urges well before the age of 15.
I've already mentioned the many times that I was sexually propositioned by slutty 14-ish year old girls, when I was singing for my band at about the age of 30. THEY were obviously aggressively seeking sex from me, even though they were legally disallowed to have any, & I think the girl involved in the R. Kelly case was doing exactly the same.
However...the suggested videotaping practices make R. Kelly's case quite a bit more difficult for him to defend...
Even if he only videotaped his sexual play with his ADULT partners, in my eyes, he is STILL guilty of exploitation....if he videotaped & distributed his sexual acts with even ONE minor...I think his goose is cooked, & that he deserves everything he gets as a result.
People in jail have children too.
He's gonna be REAL popular...

jail time but when a "man of the cloth" has sex with a minor all
that happens is he losses his job hmmmmmm FU<KED UP

VERY good point, xguy...if MY kid was molested by any priest, that muthafukka would be DEAD.
I'm really pissed off about the way the Catholic Church is covering up for those lame b@st@rds....kinda tells you how much THEY believe in their own BULL$HIT religion, doesn't it?

I wondered that myself, its safe to say that the only reason that the R. Kelly arrest has been so public is due to him being a celeb. If it was an "ordinary" person the news would barely have made the back page of the newspaper.
The whole priest thing is just ridiculous. Why in the name of all that is holy would they let a priest who has ONLY offended once stay with the church? This is just horrible if you ask me, but that is what they are doing. On the news the other night it said that unless there is 2 offences they are thinking they will let them stay. Eventually they will do it again, its hard to deny sexual urges forever, even if you honestly want too. How many of us has slept with an ex? Same concept.
Just like the lawyers saying that R. Kelly has slept with minor girls before and he is reapeating his past.

I just came back from the store, thru the Seattle Center.
Walking around with a 1/2 shaved head, 1/2 stand-up dreadlocks on the other side, was this one skinny retard, wearing a t-shirt that said in FOOT-HIGH letters - JESUS IS A C@NT on the back.
I had to bite my toungue and leave everything in the hands of GOD & KARMA...
I really wanted to yell at him, HEY BITCH!!!, and when he turned around, I was gonna yell, LOOK, EVERYBODY! -THE DUMBASS KNOWS HIS NAME...
But then I asked myself, "What would Jesus do?"

people are stupid till they learn to be human. A friend of mine wants to stick everyone in pods till theythey hit 25 and honeslty it doesnt sound like a poor idea, the more people I meet

well I think its disgusting, but there are alot of perverts out there, thats why you have to be so carefull about how much space you allow your teens and pre-teens to have these days. My question is where was the parents all this time ? Didnt they have any clue where there daughter was going for months?

In the R. Kelly case, the girls father worked for him at the time. I would think that they had some idea of where she was. I agree, they should have asked more questions about her whereabouts. However realistically, her folks could have known about it.
Also, I think we have all done things our folks don't know about no matter how active they were/are in our lives. Like Xguy said, its really pretty easy to do when your a teenager. Scary thought huh?

Sometimes I'm very proud to be a Catholic...
Anyway, I somewhat agree with HM on the sex with minors deal. Except that I personally wouldn't have sex with a fourteen year old unless she was exceptionally mature and interesting to be around. In other words, if she didn't act her age. I have a hard enough time being attracted, or even wanting to be around females 5 years younger and older than me. I'd say I couldn't stand 4 out of 5. Same with the males, if not worse, but we're talking relationships here.
Anyway, I'd only be disturbed banging some 14 year old if her favorite music "band" was Nsync and was striving to be a cheerleader. You get the message.

I want to clarify a point here : I have no problems with either Catholics OR their religion. Most Catholics are good, honest people.
My problems are only when I see wrongs being slipped under the rug- the pedophile priests merely being moved to a new group of fresh victims instead of losing their jobs and going to prison, or something that REALLY *rubs* me the wrong way, persecuting gays, teaching that HATE is "okay" against the gay.
HATE is never okay with GOD.
HATRED comes from impotent intolerance, & frustration, & GOD has neither.

Well, the more time goes flying by the more I seem to drift from being Catholic, in a way. By foundation, I'll always be Catholic. But I'll never fully stand behind something that conducts itself in such a way. It's true that a few rotten apples shouldn't ruin a tree in anyone's eyes, but when the Church doesn't do more effective things to get rid of those apples for the sake of its members and its dignity, you've gotta wonder.
At this point I'll say I'm Catholic only because it's the closest thing I can relate to... That I know of.

Ok, this topic has suddenly gotten very personal to me, as I have just been accused of statitory(sp?) rape.
A girl, whom I dated for a brief time, has recently decided she's pregnant, and decided to finger me as the father. Problem is, we never had sex.
I'm 19, she's 15, though til recently I thought she was 16, the relationship ended very shortly after it began, basically a friedship that got physical one night, me and her did fool around, we used our hands, and that was all that happened. No while I will admit that this relationship with her was a mistake, and fooling around with her, even though it was just the once was a mistake, the accusation that I am responcible for a) having sex with this girl, and b) getting her pregnant.
Since that night, she went to prom with an exb/f and then ot another b/f. Now I am suddenly the one to blame, even though it was over a month ago that this happened.
That was the most frightening phone call I ever recieved, a call from a paniced mother to my mother, saying that I had gotten her 15 yr old daughter pregnant. After a long talk/confession of what had and what had not happened with my mom, she came to the conclusion that I was indeed telling the truth. Now I have to wait to see if this girl is indeed going to lie to lawyers, and police, and then get this taken to the courts, where she'll try to lie to judge, assuming that she is even pregnant.
I'm not guilty, but even this acusation can effect everything I do from here on out, I am a mentor for jr. high kids, and I'm scedualed to teach a class next year, whether I'm found innocent or not, are parents going to want to take the chance on trusting kids to me? I made a mistake by having any form of a relationship with a younger girl, but I did nothing to merit this.
I don't know what I hoped to say with all this, maybe it's just a confession, as I've been told to keep my mouth shut to all of my friends, cuz me and this girl are in the same social circle, maybe I just needed to look for understanding, and belief in the fact that I'm not guilty. I don't know.
Unlike R. Kelly, or a priest, I am innocent. But like them, I face a serious charge.
I forget who said it, but it's so true, It sucks to be accused of something you did do wrong, it's worse to be accused of something you didn't.
Well, I guess thanks for listening.
Now I only need hope that when this is all over, my life is not ruined over the fancys of a girl and her mother who looked to a financially sound young man to take blame, rather than looking at whoever the real cause maybe.

Damn, sorry to hear that man. As far as proving yourself, I'd keep telling them "we'll test to see if it's my baby when it arrives." I'd just repeat that endlessly whenever @#%$ with. Your confidence will at least piss them off and maybe the girl will fess up. All this can be resolved with a test, except the part about your name being damaged somewhat.

BTW saying saying you'd have sex with a 14 yr old if they appeared mature is a totally ignorant and imature thing to say. 14 is 14 , no matter how you try to justify it. But you have to feel for someone who would because most likely they themselves were molested and are simply repeating the cycle.

I understand what your saying Bonnie, however it takes two to tango. Now, yes he should have just said no, but realitically there is only 4 years between them and they were friends. I see this as both of them, not just him.
I have been in that situation myself when I was in high school and the guy I was seeing turned 18. The only difference would have been that Ash and this gal were friends only.
His friend probably had a little crush on him and him her as well and things just happened. Remember he said he did not have sex with her, they kissed and made out a little(yes I realize that can mean many things). The worst thing about this is no one was there, so this could be drug out for him until the baby is born(if there is a baby, as he pointed out to me if not then this all could be so much worse). The girl is probably either scared to death or for whatever reason thought Ash would just take this laying down(no pun inteneded). She should have known better to have thought that about Ash though if that is the case.
Whatever either of them was thinking at the time or even now, its been done. Their lives will never be the same.
