When the two friends arrive at the Abbey they are greeted by many dibbuns " Gonni, what did yew bring us'ns?"
But before Gonni could answer the dibbuns were shooed away by a odd looking mouse.

"Gonni, any news of the vermin? Oh I see you brought Shadow, its been a while since I last saw him. That must be why the Friar was crying."

"As glad as I am to say it, Shadow won't be eating! He's here to help us with the Vermin problem. Well that is if he accepts..."

" Tell ya what, you know I'm a bit pricy to be hired but since I like you're food sooooo much if you let me eat as much as I can I'll do it. So what do you say, old chap?"

" Well you are a great warrior so I suppose that..." before the Abbot could say another word Shadow was off to the kitchen scoffin everything in site."

After his dinner they discussed a plan. It was for the Skipper and his otters to stay at Redwall and protect it with Gonni. That was the last line of defense against the advancing vermin hordes incase Shadow failed. Shadow was to recruit a few warriors to traveling with him to stop the advancing horde. Shadow thought his pay was enough for the job and walked out into the Abbey grounds.

" I say, any bally swell warriors here that want too crush vermin with me? From the sounds of it theres plenty for us too share! So any takers?" he screamed at the top of his lungs and is waiting for a reply...
