Smoking
Ave. I often think about this. As Satanists we know that we indulge, as it benefits us in many ways and that we should avoid things that have any empowering effects which is where I come to my point....smoking. We are our own gods, we choose what we do but when it comes to addictions like smoking then thats against these principles. I am a smoker myself and indeed it is very controlling and is very hard to give up. It is basically being a slave to the cigaretes.
It's the same with any addiction even if you enjoy it, whether it be smoking or for example sex as you are controlled by it. After all we are all human.
Whats everyones views on this? An interesting topic.
Another point is that we strive yo have a long and fulfilling life. We know that smoking kills but we still do it...even satanists.

I Am A Smoker, And As You Said It Is Very Difficult To Quit. My Dad Has Smoked For 40 Years, He Decided To Give Up 2 Weeks Ago, And Fair Play He Hasn't Had A Ciggarette. He Uses These "Nicorette CQ 21ml" Patches He Said They Work Wonders And Would Highly Recommend Them To Others.

I've quit smoking twice. The first time I quit took a few months chewing nicorette. (I became addicted to the gum mmmm) I didn't smoke for 5 years and then started again after a large personal trauma. I gave up recently with help from someone else and a short period on nicotine gum.

smoking
It's getting to the stage where I have to admit that I am a smoker.
I used to only smoke when I was drunk, which is fine because I'm not a big drinker. But just as I started writing my dissertation a friend came back from America with 200 duty-free cigarettes for someone he didn't know had quit. I offered to take them for my boyfriend who was away at the time. Unfortunately as the stress of writing kicked in I started to work my way through them. Since then I can't resist them when they are in front of me.
However I don't think about them when they aren't there. My boyfriend buys them and I help smoke them but when he's away I don't go to the shops and get a packet for myself. He'll be away for a month again soon so we'll see what happens.
I don't like the idea of not being in control of something like that so I'm going to use this month to test myself and test my level of addiction so far. So if my mood goes nuts you'll know why .

I didnt have a cigarette at all today which is damn good How long it will last I don't know. I'll probably be smoking again tomorrow but we'll see. I want to quit soon though.

Don't fall for the oh I'll just have 1 thing. I did that for a while. It was 'I haven't had one for 24 hours one wont hurt' but boy does that one taste so sweeeeeet *drools*. Then 20 mins later you're having another one.

It's stupid of me to smoke anyway because I saw the hell my parents went through every time they tried to quit. My dad doesn't smoke now. But my mum still does. Her way of looking at it is 'I love them, so I live a few years less, I'm fine with that'. If that's her choice then fair enough. But I also read John Diamond's book 'C' and I do not want to die like that. He got throat cancer from smoking and they had to remove his teeth and cut out his tongue and he couldn't eat or talk or sleep properly. It's not worth that.

I had 2 today which is better than normal. Tomorrow hopefully I will have none and keep it that way. I really want to quit smoking.

Demon Drink
Well I don`t smoke thank god, it`s getting banned everywhere, how depressing for smokers, however I like a drink (on the wine now) even work as a chemist for Carlsberg, but I dont like Lager! My point is everything in moderation can`t hurt, life is far to short to deny yourself these pleasures, It`s un satanic too! By the way just out of interest are there active meetings or covens whatever they are called in this country? has anyone being? speak to ya all later and don`t forget to have a toast to satan for me!!

So Andy, How Are You Doing With Stopping Smoking? I Am Not Doing So Well, I Have Doubled The Amount Of Marijuana I Smoke Aswell Now, So Obviously Things Are Not Slowing Down For Me, How About You?

Ummmm I'm still smoking. I had a few days where I had only 1 but then I kind of got back into it. I'm not smoking too much at work but when I get home. Anyway I'm going to try again.

It Goes For Anyone, If Your Ready To Stop Smoking, You Will Stop, My Dad Has Stopped Smoking Now As I Said He Is Using Nicorette Patches, But What He Used To Do Is, Whenever He Wanted A Cigarette He Would Think To Himself "no i only just put one out i dont want another one" Even Though He Didn't Just Put One Out, He Would Make Believe That He Did, And That Also Helped Him A Lot....Good Luck Anyway Andy! getting back to the post that started all of this...
yes smoking is addictive and the weak willed will become dependant quicker (i supose), but like all things the stronger your will is the more chance you have of stopping. plus nicotine patches help too.

My mom and dad still do smoke.
I think it's a gross habit!
The only thing I worry about is that they might end up getting Cancer.
My mom has had Cancer before, but it wasn't from Cancer.

Health Issues Are Of Course The Main Concerns About Smoking, I Think More Smokers Are Starting To Give Up, Especially Now That The Tobacco Companys Have Placed The 'SMOKING KILLS' Sticker On The Packets. I Am Still Smoking, But I Will Give It Up....

How long it will last I don't know. I'll probably be smoking again tomorrow but we'll see. I want to quit soon though.
