So. California Concerts
Boney is a treasure chest filled with wonder, excitement, and so many surprises, and everything he does turns into an adventure. He has unparalleled talent and a dynamic stage presence that is unmatched by any other artist in his genre.
Boney recently took his So. California fans on a whirlwind journey with him from Los Angeles, to Cupertino, Palm Desert, and on to San Diego, and oh what fun we had. He captivated the audience by playing a mixture of old and new music that was filled with all of the elements we’ve become so accustomed to hearing from him but he has added in so many new surprises. His music was solid and full of energy from the first note to the last and I think he proved to everyone once again, that his ability to play had no limitations whether it was on the Alto, Soprano, or Tenor Sax-- Jazz, Smooth Jazz, R&B Soul, or anything else. Some of the songs he played that really stood out the most for me were: “Here She Comes,” “Better with Time,” “Stone Groove,” his classic “Sweet Thing,” and “RIDE.” Boney played with amazing precision, clarity, and freedom; and his band brought in a strong groove behind him. The lead guitarist (Norris) was outstanding on “Better with Time” and the two keyboard players (Darryl & Eric) mastered “Stone Groove,” a fascinating and powerful song that matches Boney’s tenor with an exciting keyboard return. Ricardo (drums), Lenny (percussions), and Ethan (bass), set the pace each evening and brought us all in for the “RIDE,” which was supposed to be the last song of the night. What a groove! We all just kept on dancing hoping the song would never end! In fact, the groove was so strong that the audience did not want them to leave when the show was over so Boney came back on stage twice to please them. Thank you Boney! You’ve outdone yourself again by leaving us all with wonderful memories of evenings filled with incredible music, good friends, and a whole lot of Boney-fun. And thanks to all of the members in your band!
To the fans, thank you for getting out there to support Boney at his concerts. He has the best fans in the world! And, I’m sending a special thanks to the fans that flew out to California from Chicago and Detroit to attend his concert in Palm Desert. We all had a Boney-fun time. Hopefully we can get together and do it again next year!
