LUIS LOPEZ-FITZGERALD sat on the yellow and green floral print couch wringing his hands together in anticipation. It would only be a matter of time, before he saw Sheridan again. The plan had gone off without a hitch and he'd certainly given the performance of his life. Thank god Freeman actually clued him in on what was going to happen otherwise when he found Sheridan lying on that floor...

Well he didn't even want to think about that. It wasn't real. It was a setup and the setup for all intents and purposes worked. The drug cartel believed Sheridan was really dead and before long they would both be apprehended and Sheridan would be free to live her life again. She won't have to hide from her family and friends anymore. And he won't have to hide either.

He had some time off since he'd been asked to see a shrink before returning to work and because he had no intention of doing that, he had plenty of time to spend with Sheridan. His family thought he'd gone out of town to gather his thoughts and he hated lying to them, but he had no choice. It was the only way he and Sheridan could be together.

There were only four people that knew Sheridan wasn't really dead and he knew not one of them would tell until they were absolutely positive Sheridan was out of danger. Sheridan, Hal, Hank, and him knew it was going to be hard keeping the truth from all those who love her, but they also knew it was the only way they could save her life. Thank god Hank had come to his senses and asked Hal for help. If he hadn't...

That was another thing he didn't want to think about. He didn't want to think Hank could have really killed Sheridan. He was his best friend and he didn't want to believe something like that about him, but then again he had been keeping things from him ever since he had arrived back in Harmony over a year ago. So many secrets and so many lies, would their friendship ever be the same again?

Luis couldn't be sure and that really bothered him. They had been best buddies since they were little kids and now things had changed. He forgave Hank for his mistakes, but he wasn't at all sure that he could forget them. Then again, anything was possible. Sheridan taught him that. If you want something badly enough then anything and everything was possible.

Luis jumped to his feet as he heard a car door slam shut then started running toward the door when he heard the footsteps on the porch. The moment she opened the door, Luis pulled her into his arms and kissed her like there was no tomorrow.

When he finally pulled back to look at her, he saw the tears of joy that spilled down her cheeks and his heart constricted with emotion. "Don't cry, sweetheart. We're together now. We're together, Sheridan."

"I know." She whispered framing his face with her hands and placing tiny kisses along his cheekbones, jaw and finally one against his lips. "I missed you so much, Luis! I never want to be away from you again."

"Me either! These last couple of days nearly killed me! I mean having to pretend you were dead was tearing me apart inside. I kept seeing you lying on that floor and even though I knew it wasn't real, my mind kept playing the scene over and over again. God, I can't tell you how many times I almost passed out from the pain."

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Luis. I didn't want to put you through that. I didn't want -"

"Shh," He said placing his right index finger across her lips. "It's okay. It was the only way to keep you safe and that was more important than any pain I felt. I told you I'd do anything I had to in order to protect you and I meant every word of that."

"But you had to lie to your family and friends, Luis. I know how hard that was for you. I wish I could have been there with you."

"You were." He said reaching up to wipe the tears away from her blue eyes. "You're in my heart, Sheridan, and you may not have been there standing beside me, but you were always there with me. Always."

"Always." She repeated leaning her head into his palm. "I like the sound of that. You're always with me too Luis. Right here." She said grabbing his head and placing it over her heart. "You're always in my heart. It'll be yours forever."

"Promise?" He asked as he moved his hand up to the back of her neck and pulled her closer until her lips were just a breath away from his.

"Yes, I promise. Forever and always, my heart will be yours."

"Good." He said wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her hard against his body. "Because you have my heart too. I love you, Sheridan. I love you with everything I have inside me."

"I love you too, Luis. I love you more than words can say."

"More than words huh? How about you show me then."

She laughed then reached up and pulled his head until their lips brushed against each other. "Now that is the best idea you've had in a long time. Happy Thanksgiving, Luis."

"Oh yes," He said brushing a kiss across her lips. "It's definitely going to be a happy Thanksgiving, the happiest of my entire life."

"Mine too." She whispered placing her lips against his. "Mine too."
