Storm Lures Wild Eye Swim Shad 2" Review
Manufacturer: Storm Lures
Model: WSBSO2SD/ Wild Eye Swim Shad 2" Length 6 Pak
Category: Bass Lures Baits
Purchase: After a short day at work I stopped at Wal-Mart intending to buy some worm hooks and plastic worms as I was planning a fishing trip that afternoon and knew that my tackle box supply was low. When I was taking my selections to the checkout counter I noticed a display of these Storm lures I had never seen before, well they really looked good on the shelf and at $2.95 for six in a pack I thought I'd give them a try.
Likes: I chose the "Baby Bass" color and tied one on as soon as I got to the pond that I regularly fish. This pond is about an acre and a half and full of bass crappie and bluegill. On my first cast I thought something was wrong with the lure it came up to the surface almost immediately swimming sideways! I pulled it in and looked it over and seeing nothing wrong threw out again cranking slower this time, well it stayed down this time but swam from one side to the other! Well, I picked up the package and read on the front "Always think like a fish no matter how weird it gets!" so I now I'm guessing maybe this is how this crazy lure is SUPPOSED to act and sure enough on my next cast I hooked into a real nice pound and half crappie. I worked those baits the rest of the afternoon and ended up with one more crappie about half a pound and three bass ranging from one pound too three pounds. Since that first day I've continued to use these great baits in different sizes and they continue to produce. I've caught largemouth, white bass, striper, crappie, catfish, and even Spanish at Myrtle this September.
Dislikes: The only thing I don't like about these baits is that they tend to tear up after just one or two fish sometimes you get three or four but the tails come off easily. The bigger sizes are tougher but seem to catch fewer fish.
Quality: These baits come in many different sizes and colors with a built in weight so that they really cast great. They just don't hold together real well after a couple good hits from some hungry bass.
Summary: Dispite the problems of these baits not lasting very long at the price and effectiveness they are still a very good value.
