Str VS. Sta
I have a human lvl 7 monk, but recently i found out stamina is important to put points into, not sure if i used any. My EQ book said agi and str were the most important, so i put all but 5 into str, is my character gunna be a failure, or go with it? Will he still turn out decent? Please let me know what u think.

nothing you can do will make your character a failure (as far as stat allocation). stamina is the most beneficial at lower levels (as in 55-) but even if you put 20 in charisma, it wouldn't have much negative effect.

Re: Str VS. Sta
really starting stats dont affect your character overall. You will find equipment to bring up the weak ones easily enough as you lvl. I personally put most of my points into agi, and the rest in str and dex if i remember right. Probably not the wisest choice, but I still kick a lot of butt.

I chose Stamina, since +str gear is a lot easier to come by and having extra hitpoints can never hurt.

I play a 60 monk, when I created the character, I put all my points into strength. Looking back, I wish I'd put them into stamina, strength is much easier to get than stamina is. Especially because if you have like 170 str, at high levels a good shaman buff will put you to the 255 cap, or damn close to it. But I'm pretty sure the best shaman sta buff is only like +50 sta? Which leaves you short of the cap if you have around 170sta, so max out your sta.

Re: Str VS. Sta
if i remember correctly i made my character when the agility myth was still untested. i think i put like 10 in agi 5 in str and 5 in dex. at lvl 56 now i wish i had put all my points into stamina. at lvl 60 20sta = 80hp. stamina and hp items are very difficult to find as compared to any other main monk stat <strength in particular>. although it really doesnt make THAT big a difference how you distribute your points in the end - that 80 extra hp sure does help a lot more than youd think.

Ever since I got primal, I just wish I had put all my points into sta, even without the primal, shammie buffs put me at 255str since I put all my points into str when I first created my character.....

Sta Sta no question - I would say any class you play put your points into stamina. casters then they about lvl 60 have max out wis int - they all after mana and sta and HP items. some even after ac.

this is the only item you will be really after - after you 60.

Base stamina does affect HP overall.

Re: Str VS. Sta
I have played several monks on several servers, variously statted, to high end-game levels. They lived longer by taking less damage over time, and raising their ATK, STR, STA and HP is no problem with carefully chosen gear.

To you, I can honestly say that it is my opinion that a maxxed agility is the way to start your Monk.

Putting 20 into stamina gives players only about 100 hp or so at level 60; if , however you avoid being hit even ONCE by Derakor the Vinidcator because of a high AGI, you have more than saved the few hit points that a cranked Stamina gives your toon.

Agility also determines how fast your defense skills will raise, how often you will effectively dodge an attack, and minumize damage taken every hit. Agility also seems to effect how fast you run, and how quickly swimming skills raise.

The argument for Stamina is thin, and most agree that there are too many +STR items in the game to put points into it at creation.

I'd be glad to prove my point, anytime, anywhere. Log in to Tholuxe Paells and send a /tell to Zkar, Ceum, or Monty. We can meet on any server neither of us have a character on and create level 1 newbie Monks, and duel/PvP 10 times. I put my "not getting hit and getting hit for less every time" over others' 2 extra hit points any day. =)

Cheers

Hail All,

As Arana was saying STA gear is the rarest to find in the game. I have just started a Monk and I’m enjoying him very much. Most of my Points in STR, the rest in AGL. I was really surprised to see that Iksar’s have a nice 80 WIS to start out.

I’m looking forward to doing Tailoring, Brewing and Baking. Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of spiders in the Cabillis area.

Personally +sta, as I found +str equipment easy to get.
