Superior 16Bit Console? I just know that this little thread is going to be extremely biased at every turn possible, hehe ^^;; so i'll lead off.
I grew up with Sega.. first came the Master System 1, then the Second Model came out with a few improvements, got that after hocking the First Model off... then, fucking hell, i saw this new 16 bit!! Console!! the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) and hot damn!! i jumped in ASAP and got myself a copy, alot of my friends were jealous at the time, but they all managed to get their own (well, most of them) and we were all happy, heh.. playing the Sonic Saga to our hearts delight, it was the talk of the school back in those days (for all who were fans anyway) i used to draw out these little fights with Sonic and Robotnik in it.. heh, Sonic took over my life for a few years.. then, the tragic day came.. we had to sell the Mega Drive.
But eh, i then shifted to the PC and i havent turned back since.. heh, however i have always had my litte cravings for an actual hard-copy of a Mega Drive, so i could maybe buy a few games and play them Legit for once, to get the feeling back..
Oh yeah, out of the whole thing did i mention that the Genesis is in actual fact FASTER then the Super Nintendo by quite a margin.. the CPU speeds of them both are rather noticeable.

BAM!! cop that you Nintendo lovin whore!! lol. And if that wasnt enough, the Sega Genesis also had 3 sets of Sound Equipment, compared to the Super Nintendo and its 2.

Hehe.. no reason for that, but the Sega did bring out some suprisingly good tunez.. Streets of Rage 3 is a good example, along with the majority of the Sonic Series.. heh. Well uh, thats my rant.. too tired to think of anything else right now.. vote and post i suppose.Show results
The Super Nintendo by far has the best library of games. Don't forget there's also Sega CD, the TurboGrafx16 and the TurboGrafx16-CD. I got into the TG16/CD about a year ago. It has tons of kick ass shooters. I love shooters so much that they almost give me an orgasm.
Re: Superior 16Bit Console?
well...I actually never played on a Sega.......so if I have a Snes emulator on my comp.....will a sega work too???
anyway if it will I'll try it out........sounds cool....(and I want to play sonic too.... )
Re: Superior 16Bit Console?
Ahhh yes, Gens.. the BEST Sega Genesis emulator on the internet, i'd recommend you get that one aswell, it runs ALL formats of Sega through it, which includes Sega 32x, Sega CD, Sega Genesis Roms/ISO's.. heh. Speaking of the other platforms though, did you ever see Nintendo bother to make anything else? eh? eh? NO. Which is why (aside from the FF series) Sega has an advantage on the playing field, heh.. they also had the majority of the market back in those days.
EDIT: visit the OFFICIAL GENS HOME PAGE to get the most recent version, and they got their own forum with like.. compatability lists and all for the roms, so yeah.. take a pic. lol.

Re: Superior 16Bit Console?
they were both gods..... hehe..... cept the snes had more noticable great games but damn I loved sega games like shining force......that was pure bliss.... hehe...... also I liked that sega did more experimentation even though that put them in the shitter after a while even with a great system......
Re: Superior 16Bit Console?
Dawezy, I love ya man, but I have to (i have to) choose Snes.
It's going to be impossible for anyone to remove the childhood memory of opening the Christmas day gift to find the mighty SNES. In fact, before that Christmas day, I didn't even know that a SUPER nintendo even existed. I was very happy that day.
It's funny now that I'm older that my closer friends are all Sega kids. Their parents bought them Genesi for their birthday/christmas. I've played the geneses quite a bit, and I've enjoyed it, too. But I just can't say that I enjoyed it more than my beloved snes.
Re: Superior 16Bit Console?
heh, Mario paint... Gotta love those 9-frame animations of Mario being set on fire and decapitated by UFO sprites...
I'd say SNES, mostly for its roster of developers. Any system with Rare and Square working for them is easily far better off, and Nintendo's own SNES-native titles weren't too bad either.
Look out my window what do I see A crack in the sky and a hand reaching down to me All the nightmares came today And it looks as though they’re here to stay
Re: Superior 16Bit Console?
I got my Sega for Christmas when I was in grade three, and I loved it. Never did get a SNES, but I would play it at my friends house all the time, and it is a pretty good system, but I prefer the Genesis. I might get one someday just so I can have something I missed out on, if I can find one that is.

Damn all you Mario lovers XD
About time the Sega finally got another vote damnit. I was beginning to think that i was the ONLY kid with a Sega upbringing damn Sega for fading away like they have though, blegh. I would've liked to see a PSOne or PS2 release of a whole heap of old classic games ready for the abuse of the disgruntled old schooler
Funny thing, i had my Genesis back in like... 4th Grade, i think it was in the 3rd Grade too... damn, so long ago and i still remember it clear as day.
