TV's Guide's Logan Skewers Frons, Valentini Re HBS Situation
Posted by Yobear38 at the Troy&Nora MB::
From the Sept. 4-10 issue:
"OLTL: What's the Deal With HIllary?
In a very sudsy backstage drama, OLTL's Hillary B. Smith (Nora) was nearly out the door last December when -- at the eleventh hour -- ABC extended her deal by one year. But what the hell was the point? With her character in a stroke-induced coma, Smith wasn't on air for the first four months of the new contract and since then has only been seen a few times. Is this any way to treat an Emmy-winning fan favorite? No, but Smith is taking it like a pro. "I threw myself into the physcial demands of the stroke and have enjoyed the work they've given me," she says. "Still, this is all very bizarre." And how. Both ABC Daytime president Brian Frons and OLTL chief Frank Valentini have avoided my repeated requests for a comment. What's the matter boys?"
~~~~~~
It's about time someone in the media asked this question of Frons and Frankie! I wonder if Michael Logan has an inkling of the answer and the reason for the mistreatment of Hillary.
Think I'll email Mr. Logan a thank you for at least acknowledging that something's rotten in the way ABCD has treated Hillary. If anyone else wants to join me, send to:
tvg.customer.service@tvguide.com
and enter Michael Logan's name in the message field. I know there is an uproar about Dan Gauthier right now, as there should be, but I don't want Hillary getting lost in the chaos. TPTB would just love it if she did.
Thanks, Karen!
Thanks for pulling this over here, Karen - I e-mail Logan all the time & he'll be getting a huge "thank-you" from me in his inbox. One of our C.H.E.R.I. (Cat-Hillary-Erika-Robin-Ilene) participants also brought something very interesting to my attention. Most of us know that Nora is daytime's longest-running, most prominent Jewish character in daytime. Recently, Y&R's Lynn Latham and Don Diamont gave an interview to The Jewish Week, a NY-based periodical, concerning the rewrite of Diamont's character as one of the Jewish faith. SOD's Stephanie Sloane briefly referenced Nora's character as the only other promiment Jewish character in daytime, and stated how the faith has really been stripped from her character w/ the passage of time. I'm going to post the interview link here - I'm unsure if it will transfer, but anyone who wants to read the interview can e-mail me for a copy. This is a very important angle that we need to approach in our correspondence. I'm reaching out to the newspaper & am in the process of tracking down the freelance journalist who conducted the interview. If he does a follow-up, I want in on that piece. Is ABC willing to throw away this powerhouse talent whose character serves as daytime's longest-running, most prominent Jewish character? Here's the link - again, it may not transfer over: www.thejewishweek.com/new...rtid=12808
Logan Article Follow-Up
I just wanted to add that attaching a copy of Logan's piece to our correspondence on behalf of HBS really reinforces our credibility. I've started doing so myself, and instructed everyone participating in C.H.E.R.I. to do so as well.
