Publisher reveals Harry Potter title

NEW YORK - (AP) Harry Potter fans have another week and a half to wait before they can tuck into the latest installment of the boy wizard's adventures, but the book's publisher has offered a tantalizing tidbit.

The immensely popular series' fourth book, due out July 8, will be titled Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Judy Corman, a spokeswoman for Scholastic Books, the book's American publisher, confirmed Tuesday.

The title had been a closely guarded secret until it was obtained by London's Sunday Telegraph.

Corman would not disclose any other details about the book, whose plot publishers have kept under wraps in an effort to heighten anticipation among Harry Potter's legions of fans, both children and adults.

The release of the 752-page Goblet of Fire, by J.K. Rowling, is expected to be one of the summer's biggest publishing events on both sides of the Atlantic.

Bookstores are staying open late to sell copies at 12:01 a.m. on July 8, and some have planned special events and parties.

The first three volumes of the Harry Potter series have dominated best-seller lists, selling about 28 million copies worldwide.

Scholastic plans an initial printing of 3.8 million copies for Goblet of Fire in the United States, to sell for $25.95 each. Bloomsbury, the British publisher, is printing 1 million copies.
