I watched the Pilot again last night and it's still as wonderful as the first time I saw it. I just love all the Max and Liz scenes, especially when they are in the art room (It Was You) and the last scene on the hill.
Re: The Pilot
What a great pilot. Best I've seen in a long time. Sparkle72,I loved the last scene also. Boy did they connect or what. It was beautiful to see these two actors drawing closer together with just a look, a touch, a word ..."different"... Right then and there, you knew they were destined to be together. Call it fate, call it kismet, or whatever, it was there at that moment for me. Also the connection scene - WOW!! And the music was right on throughout. Hmnn, think I'll go and watch again.
Oh, and the It was You scene. Gads, line delivery like that - you can't teach this stuff, it comes from within. Same as on the hill. Its being there completely at that time, in the moment. Excellent!
Re: The Pilot
The Pilot is my favorite episode! The first scene just reaches out and grabs you. From then on the episode goes right into character introduction, development...it was so well written and well acted!
The Jason and Shiri chemistry is amazing too! Even in the first scene when Max heals Liz the chemistry is just there!
I loved everything about it. The dialog is superb, and all of the scenes flowed into one another. And by the end of the episode you can't wait to see what else happens! It's absolutely brilliant!

Re: The Pilot
Hi, everyone! Decided to come out of lurkdom and renew this nagging question.."We gotta get rid of her"?? Has anyone ever come up with any kind of an explanation for this line in the pilot?? For anyone who isn't familiar with this, one of the two men arguing says this (very clearly) in the background right after Liz begins to show the picture to our two crazy 'tourists'.
Everytime I watch this ep, this DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!! Any comments or ANSWERS??
Re: The Pilot
Whirlwind, I have not heard it, darn, now I have to go and watch it again. What it would mean, however, is a mystery. At this point, why would anyone be getting rid of Liz?? She and Max have not even met - she knows him, but not to really speak to. Unless!!! the evil aliens know she is maybe 1/2 or 1/4 alien and want to do her in before Max gets involved with her. Strange, of course its strange, its Roswell!!
Re: The Pilot
Whirlwind. I watched the Pilot again and listened very carefully at that point where Liz shows the pic to the tourists and by gum I heard it plain and clear. I backed up and ran it again, and sure nuf, ...we gotta get rid of her...was said by one of the two thugs. What it means, I haven't the foggiest. Hopefully in Season 2 there will be some answers.
* Michael's 'edge'
* Isabel's attitude
* M&L actually having scenes together
* A good villian
* The quirkiness
* Alex
* Spikey Mikey
* Bob!!
What I don't miss:
* Maria's hair
* Kyle's earrings
I forgot how good the music was in the pilot. A little Filter, a little Hole, some Garbage thrown in for good measure. Good stuff. Not to mention the masterful use of "Crash Into Me" in the final scene.
One of my favorite (and short) scenes is still Maria screaming and running from the Crashdown.
And can anyone explain to me why when the teacher said to "take a sample from your cheek" I thought of this pic -
Re: The Pilot
I hope UPN sees now that the fans see... I mean come on.. You can't beat the Pilot.. and Well Future Max..
the "It was You..." line and
"I need you, to help me, fall out of love with you"
"Things between us were cemented.."
The list can go on and on and on.........
God.. it was good to see the REAL Roswell........... now back to reality... .... I wonder what other reruns they will show... Or just the Pilot and TEOTW over and over...
Re: The Pilot
i will never, ever tire of the plot. everyone was so green, but in a good way... i do miss michael's edge... and his tall hair but you know what else i really miss? i miss the whole thing with max and liz... that whole "you saved my life thing"... i don't know, i mean, i know that it gets "old" or whatever, but that was like part of the whole romance behind it. the whole liz seeing herself as max saw her thing was sooo damn sweet, you know? all those little clips of them as kids and stuff. i know that's it's already been done, but i kinda miss it. it made the experience sweet...
another thing that i will never tire of about the pilot, that clip of max with his hotdog-on-a-stick, walking through the crowd and biting it... and the part when he says "i went in to buy a hamburger... did i do something wrong?" i thought he was sooo cute... LOL
ahh, reliving the earlier days... such sweet memories...
