The Vegetarianism of Jesus Christ
Many Christians believe that Jesus Christ was a vegetarian. I have felt this way myself for many years. If I could paint, I would have painted a picture of Jesus wielding a pole-axe in a slaughterhouse years ago.
This image would be a far cry from our understanding that Jesus was/is compassionate, forgiving, and The Prince of Peace.
Christians who ask themselves daily, "What would Jesus do"? would see this image and know that Jesus would NOT be working in a slaughterhouse. The painting would be perceived by most to be blasphemous, and would perfectly convey my thought without words.
If Christians are to follow Jesus---then that is to be like Christ---and it means you do not do what Jesus would not. It also means not paying someone else to do it for you, which is what you do when you purchase that neat clean little package of innocent murdered flesh at the grocery store.
Recently, I discovered that I am not alone. I found a billboard online at: www.jesusveg.com/jesuadoldbig.jpg
I also found an entire website devoted to this issue. It contains the answers to many frequently asked questions, a free vegetarian starter kit you can order, and a link to The Christian Vegetarian Association.
The website is: www.jesusveg.com
The Christian Vegetarian Association is: www.christianveg.com
I am glad that this forum exists so that I can share this information with people who may be new to this idea.
