PART ONE: A Lesson Learned

Sheridan Crane stared at herself in the full-length mirror and wondered again why she was going to this Halloween party at the youth center. She had promised herself after the drug dealers were caught, and after Luis moved out, that she would stay away from Luis. She had kept that promise for the last two weeks but tonight… tonight she had the overwhelming urge to see him and for the first time in a long while she was going to give in to that urge. She missed Luis and if she stayed in the cottage tonight she really would go insane.

She turned her head to the right and cast a glance over her shoulder at the couch behind her, remembering how many times she had seen Luis sleeping there. Sometimes she would wake up in the middle of the night wanting a glass of water and she would tiptoe through the living room, still expecting Luis to be there. But he wasn’t there and every time she saw the empty couch, the ache in her chest increased. Would she ever think of this cottage as home again? Or would it forever remind her of Luis and of the fact that he was no longer a part of her life?

She didn’t know why that fact still surprised her. It was, after all, her choice. Yet she still dreamed about him at night and when she woke she still expected to see him. Why did getting over him have to be so damn difficult? She hadn’t fully realized just how much she liked having him around until he was gone. Now he was all she could think about. It didn’t matter what she did or where she was… he was constantly on her mind. He was a permanent fixture in the cottage too. Everything, in what was once her favorite place on earth to relax, was now causing her more stress and turmoil than she knew what to do with.

Walking on the grounds didn’t help either. That only caused her to remember all the walks she and Luis had taken. And the gazebo… She shook her head forcing the image from her mind. She had to forget about Luis. He wasn’t who she thought he was and she had to learn to except that. It was harder than she thought though. She kept having to remind herself about what he said on the wharf that night because her heart seemed to keep forgetting it. In fact, it was so bad that she had actually picked up the phone and started dialing the number for the Harmony Police Station on more than one occasion. What she would have said to him had she actually placed the call was beyond her, but the fact of the matter was she had wanted to call him… had come close to calling him just because she missed hearing the sound of his voice.

Sheridan let out a heartfelt sigh then fully turned and walked toward the couch. She leaned down and placed her palm against the cushions, wondering if the sudden heat rising in her arm was from Luis. Had he left his imprint in the couch?

“Don’t be ridiculous.” She admonished herself. Luis had left two weeks ago, his imprint in her couch had long since vanished. But the one in her heart… she feared it would always remain.

A knock at the door shook her out of the direction her thoughts had taken and she was thankful for it. At least she could get a little reprieve from the pain in her heart. She turned and walked toward the door then almost tripped going up the stairs when she saw his face in the window. But a second later, she watched a hand pull the face off and she let out a bloodcurdling scream.

The door opened immediately and she found herself face to face with Ethan not Luis. “ I could have sworn… Where did you get that?”

“In father’s desk. I went to get a pen out to sign a contract and I found it. I figure he plans on wearing it to the costume party tonight and I wanted to bring it by to show you first. I didn’t count on you trying to break my ear drums though.”

“Julian’s desk?” She repeated her mind swirling with questions. “Why would Julian have a mask of Lu –“

She stopped in mid-sentence. “Put that back on.”

“What?” He asked giving her a perplexed look.

“Put the mask back on.” She repeated ignoring the way Ethan rolled his eyes at her request. Once the mask was in place, she stepped back to get a better view. “Do me a favor and take your cell phone out of your pocket. Put it up to your ear like you’re talking to someone. Yeah, just like that.”

She walked around him looking at him… studying him from all angles. As she did, only one thought ran through her mind, she’d been had – lock, stock, and barrel. The reason Luis hadn’t known what she was talking about when she confronted him about that night down at the wharf was because he truly hadn’t known what she was talking about. It hadn’t been him. Of that she was now sure. But who was it? Julian didn’t have Luis’ build and neither did Ethan. Not that she thought Ethan would do something like that. She knew he wouldn’t. He didn’t like Luis but he wouldn’t cause her unnecessary pain just to keep her away from him. No this was her father and Julian’s doing.

She should have known, she thought placing a hand on her hip and raising another to her forehead. She should have realized they were up to something that night. They’d both tried to tell her how they knew Luis was only using her. That was the whole reason she’d gone back to the wharf that night. Julian had goaded her into doing it. He’d said it would prove Luis was using her and she’d gone to prove him wrong. But by going she had played right into his hands.

“Damn him!” She whispered furiously, her hand dropping from her waist to ball into a fist at her side. “Damn him for doing this to me. To Luis. How could he be so cruel? So heartless?”

“Who are you talking about Sheridan? Luis?” He asked holding up the mask and looking it over. "Has Luis done something else to upset you?”

“No.” She said as she started to pace back and forth along the floor. “Luis didn’t do anything. He never did. I was wrong. Oh god, I was so wrong.”

“Sheridan, you’re talking in circles. Who did what and what were you so wrong about?”

“Luis!” She said stopping as the tears started to well in her eyes. “I was wrong about Luis! Oh god, I’ve been so awful to him and he never did a thing. It was all Julian and Alistair. They did it and god I let them. I let them manipulate me. I made it easy for them to do it too.”

“How could I have been so stupid?” She asked falling onto the couch and burying her face in her hands. “How could I have believed him capable of something so hurtful? How could I have believed he would use me that way?”

“I don’t get it. What does this mask have to do with father and grandfather?”

“Don’t you see.” She asked raising her head to look into his worried blue eyes. “They were responsible for what I saw and heard on the wharf that night. You’re holding the proof Ethan. Luis never said those things that I accused him of. Someone else did. Someone pretending to be Luis.”

Ethan glanced at the mask and as his eyes widened in realization, she knew she wasn’t just grasping at straws. He knew they were capable of something like this the same as she did. She didn’t want to think they would intentionally hurt her this way, but she had no other choice now. The proof was staring her right in the face. Luis had been acting like two different people because he had been two different people.

* * * * *

Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald checked over the decorations for the youth center one last time then praised the kids for doing such a good job of decorating the place. They had certainly amazed him by all they had gotten accomplished this afternoon. He wasn’t sure they were going to get all the decorations up in time, but with Kay and Simone leading the pack he should have realized they would. Those two could be real slave drivers when they wanted to be.

“Hey Luis.” Sam called out as he and Grace walked into the gym. “The place looks great.”

“The kids did a great job on the decorations.” Grace said as they came to a stop in front of him.

“Yeah, Kay and Simone really got this thing organized. In fact,” He said raising his hand and glancing at his watch. ”They were so well organized that I still have thirty minutes to go home, shower, and change into my costume.”

“Well what are you waiting on?” Sam asked patting him on the back. “Get out of here. We can keep an eye on things for you.”

“Are you sure?” Luis asked hesitating to take him up on the offer. He didn’t want to put Sam and Grace out.

“Of course.” Sam said nodding his head. “You go get changed. We are more than capable of looking after things for you.”

“Thanks Sam.” Luis said slapping him on the back as he walked around him. “I won’t be long.”

Luis opened the door and walked out into the cool night air. He couldn’t believe tomorrow would be the first day of November. It seemed like only yesterday he and Sheridan were at the country club celebrating the Fourth of July. He shuttered as he remembered how that night had ended then pulled his keys out of his left jean pocket and unlocked the door to his police cruiser. After starting the engine and backing out of the small parking space in front of the youth center, he started the drive home.

Stopping at a red light a couple of blocks from the youth center, he briefly wondered if Sheridan would be at the party. He knew the kids had invited her. He’d seen the invitation in the batch he mailed out last week. He hadn’t been that surprised either. They had been dying for her to come back ever since she finished her community service hours almost five or six months ago. She had been back a few times, but not enough to satisfy the kids. They wanted her back working the hours she had before, which would pose somewhat of a problem since they had an unwritten rule to stay away from each other.

He wasn’t sure why exactly they hadn’t spoken in over two weeks, but he knew it had something to do with what she believed he said that night on the wharf. He still couldn’t get over how she could have been so convinced she’d seen and heard him that night when he knew there was no way she could have. He never would have said those things about her even in jest so how could she have heard him? And he was fairly certain he hadn’t stuck around the wharf that long after she first left him so how could she have seen him when he wasn’t there? None of it made any sense to him and he was almost positive it probably never would.

Releasing a heavy sigh, he finally pulled into his neighborhood then two minutes later he pulled into his drive and shut off the engine. He pulled his keys out of the ignition then sat, with his hands on the steering wheel, looking at the house that he had spent the greater part of his youth and the last seven years as adult living in. He didn’t want to go in. It had been two weeks since the drug dealers were caught and he’d left Sheridan’s cottage yet his own home didn’t feel like home anymore.

Two weeks, he thought finally opening the truck door and stepping out into the cool night air, and he still felt as if he were just staying at a friend’s house instead of the house that he had not so long ago thought of as home. That first night away from the cottage he had stayed up all night tossing and turning in his bed. He just hadn’t been able to get comfortable. He missed the cottage. He missed lying on the couch at night and hearing Sheridan throw open her bedroom door then try to tip toe into the kitchen without waking him.

He had always wondered what she would have done if she knew that he had always been awake. That he had felt every time she laid her hand against the back of his head or every time she had run a finger lightly over his jaw or over his forehead. He had pretended to be asleep because he knew his knowing that she touched him that way would make her uncomfortable, which would in turn make him uncomfortable as well.

Staring at the little white house in front of him, he realized that he now knew exactly what uncomfortable felt like and he didn’t like it a damn bit. Being uncomfortable staying at a friend or stranger’s house was one thing, but being uncomfortable in your own home… that was something else entirely.

Luis took a deep slow breath then walked up the front poor steps and unlocked the door. He opened it then stepped inside and felt… nothing. He didn’t feel the welcome home sensation he always had before. He didn’t feel the joy that he used to feel when he had the house all to himself for a few hours. He didn’t feel much of anything actually and that bugged the hell out of him. He had been living in a numbed state ever since he had walked out of Sheridan’s cottage a little over two weeks ago and he it had to stop. He couldn’t continue to live as if he were just waiting for the opportunity to go home. He was home, at least for a little while, until he could afford a place of his own.

He closed the front door then walked into his bedroom and grabbed the costume Theresa had made for him out of the closet. She had done a great job on it. He had always known she had design talent, but when she had showed him her portfolio last week he had been blown away by the detail and talent her sketches possessed. His little sister had not only found her career niche but she’d also found love – with Ethan Crane no less.

Yeah, he and Ethan got along fine now, but that hadn’t always been the case and he knew the main reason they got along was because of the fact that he was dating Theresa. If those two weren’t so in love with each other, he wouldn’t have given the Crane heir the time of day let alone accepted his offer of friendship. But the fact of the matter was he made Theresa happy and that was all he had ever wanted her to be

He closed his eyes as an image of Ethan’s beautiful aunt flashed in his mind then forced himself to forget her for the time being and concentrate on what he had come to do – shower and change.

PART TWO: A Second Chance

Sheridan looked around the crowded gym at the youth center, but didn’t see Luis anywhere. Yes, he was more than likely going to be wearing a costume but she had no doubt she would be able to pick him out of a crowd. If her eyes didn’t recognize him, she knew her heart would. After all, where he was concerned her heart was never wrong. Her eyes yes, her heart no.

She was still furious over what Julian and Alistair had done and tonight she was determined to right the wrong they made. She was going to apologize to Luis for ever doubting him and if by some miracle he forgave her then she was going to make damn sure he knew how she felt about him. Hopefully, by the time this party is over, she and Luis would be starting a new relationship one that wasn’t based on lies and deception, which she knew for a fact it wouldn’t be. Luis was an honest man and how she ever forgot she would never know.

She had no excuses for her disbelief in him, but she did have an explanation. She planned to tell him that too just as soon as he got back from his run home, which according to Sam and Grace should be any moment now. She was curious to see the costume he’d chosen and also the look on his face when he saw hers. It was more revealing than any of the other costumes at the party tonight and she knew the reason too. She wanted to see that look of desire in Luis’ eyes the same one she had seen in her dreams on so many cold and lonely nights.

She knew it was her fault that he had never acted on that desire and she hoped, after they cleared up the one thing keeping them apart, that particular fact would change. She wanted him more than she had ever wanted any man before and knowing he felt the same way was… was almost too much for her to handle. In truth it always had been.

Every time she had looked into those deep brown eyes of his she had fallen deeper and deeper inside of them. She was surprised she hadn’t gotten lost. She shook her head then froze when, thanks to the lull in music, she heard the front door to the youth center open and a collective female sigh go up. She turned from her perch near the refreshment table just in time to see the man of her dreams walk inside.

A new song began to play and it was one she didn’t recognize, but the soft melody was… beautiful. Her eyes connected with Luis’ through his Zorro mask and almost without realizing it, she began to walk toward him as he did her. They met in the middle of the dance floor and when Luis held out his hand to her, she didn’t hesitate to take it.

Nobody could hurt me like I know she could hurt me
But there's nothing in this world that I want more
Nobody could take me to the places that she takes me
Places that I've never been before
With my eyes wide open knowing full well

I could fall from heaven
I could fall from heaven
I could fall I could brake that's the chance that I take
I could fall

She caught the surprise in his eyes, but didn’t have time to dwell on it because the moment he wrapped his strong arms around her waist, she lost all comprehension. This is what she had missed, she thought leaning her head against his broad shoulder. Being wrapped in Luis’ arms was heaven and she had no idea how she had gone so long without being in them.

Look at me I'm flying, just a breath away from dying
Holding on to her and letting go
As I walk across this wire above a lake of fire
And lean into the wind that starts to blow
With my eyes wide open knowing full well

I could fall from heaven
I could fall from heaven
I could fall I could brake that's the chance that I take
I could fall

“Sheridan.” Luis murmured against her hair. “I thought you were avoiding me.”

“I was.” She said drawing back slightly. “I was avoiding you, but not anymore. Things have changed Luis. I owe you an explanation and an apology. I –“

“Wait.” Luis said raising a black glove clad finger to her lips. “Something tells me this isn’t the place to discuss whatever you are apologizing for so how ‘bout we go to my office instead?”

Do I hide my heart? Do I lock my door?
Do I tear it out so it don't feel no more?
No, I risk it all knowing that I could fall from heaven

I could fall from heaven
I could fall
I could fall
I could fall
I could fall
Fall, fall

She took a deep breath as the song neared the end then nodded and followed Luis as he led her into his office and shut the door. The last strands of the song played and as it did she couldn’t help, but wonder if she herself was about fall. She was about to take a big risk, but she also knew, without a doubt, that Luis was worth it.

She had been positively awful to him over the last few months and yet somehow he was always there for her whenever she needed him. Not because she was a Crane, but because she was her. How could she have ever thought he was using her for her money or to get information on his family? Julian and Alistair had planted the seeds yes, but how could she have allowed them to fester for so long without realizing the truth wasn’t what they said it was?

Sure, her past relationships with men had a lot to do with her inability to trust in Luis. But he had never given her any reason, before or since that night, to think he was just using her. Yet her father and brother had given her every reason in the world to question their motives and she chose not to. She chose to trust her eyes and ears instead of her heart and it almost cost her the man she loved. She would have thrown away everything she and Luis had together had Ethan not shown up wearing the mask of Luis’ face tonight. She knew she had to tell Luis what her family did, but she had no proof other than the mask Ethan had found and she had made him promise to place it back in Julian’s drawer before he found it was missing. She didn’t want them to know she knew what they did – not yet. Not until she and Luis had straightened everything out.

She didn’t want to give them the chance to try something else. She knew they would, but not until they knew their plan didn’t work, which wouldn’t be for a few days if she had anything to say about it. She wanted to talk to Luis about them going away somewhere just the two of them so that they could be alone and fix whatever damage her family had done. But that would only work if he forgave her, which she wasn’t at all sure was possible.

She took another deep breath then raised her eyes from the spot on the floor she had been staring at since they walked into the office and met Luis’ questioning brown gaze. “I found out something tonight, something I should have known months ago. I… I know I was wrong about what I saw and heard that night on the wharf. I know what happened, but I’m not sure if it will matter to you. The truth is I didn’t believe you and I should have because you have never given me any reason to doubt you. I’m so sorry, Luis. I’m so sorry for so many things.”

Luis didn’t say anything for a long time, but when he did his voice was calm. “I think I’d like that explanation now.”

She nodded then closed her eyes and gathered her strength. Something told her she would need it to get through what she was about to tell him. Something told her he was going to blow a gasket when he found out what her father and brother had done. She opened her eyes then forced herself to stare straight into his as she told him exactly what she had learned tonight.

* * * * *

Luis paced the small enclosed room, not knowing how to respond to what Sheridan told him. He wanted to rant and rave, but he knew just by looking at Sheridan that she didn’t need his temper right now. She needed his understanding and he wasn’t at all sure he could give that to her just yet. He didn’t fully understand why she believed he would say those things. He understood how at first she could have thought it, but even after he had denied it, she hadn’t believed him. Didn’t she know the last thing he would ever do was lie to her?

No, he thought finally coming to a stop, she hadn’t known because everyone in her life had lied to her. He didn’t know much about her past relationships but he knew enough to know that the men had all lied and used her for something. How could he fault her for thinking him capable of the same thing? She hadn’t known him that well back then. They were just starting to get to know each other. And he could see how she wouldn’t believe him when he denied it because there was nothing in her experience that would let her know he was actually telling her the truth.

He wished she could have given him the benefit of the doubt, but he understood why she didn’t. He understood why she believed those things. He hadn’t at first but the more he thought about it the more he did understand. She had nothing to compare his honesty with. Her father and Julian certainly weren’t a good example of an honest man. Ethan was okay, but the Cranes had raised him so he knew how to lie when the situation warranted. Her past beaus had lied to her too. In fact, as far as he knew he was the only man that had ever been truly honest with her and that had to be hard for her to except. How could it not be? She had to be waiting for the other shoe to drop and when it had… it had left her heartbroken.

Luis took a deep breath then glanced at Sheridan who sat with her head down and her hands folded in her lap. She looked as if she were waiting for him to explode. He shook his head then realized he needed to show her he wasn’t like the other men she had known. He thought he had showed her that already but a reminder certainly couldn’t hurt anything.

He stepped toward her then squatted until he was eye level with her. The moment she raised her head and he saw the silent tears running down her cheeks, his heart constricted in his chest. He raised a hand to wipe away her tears and when she leaned her cheek into his palm and raised her own hand to cover his, he couldn’t stop the tidal wave of emotions that swept through him. “I’m sorry, Sheridan. I’m sorry your family caused you so much pain. I feel like it’s my fault. They didn’t want us together and they went to the mat to make sure it didn’t happen. I understand why you believed what you did and I don’t blame you for it. If our roles were reversed I probably would have believed the same thing. At least I would have back then.”

“We didn’t know each other as well then as we do now. There was no way you could have known that wasn’t me at the wharf that night and there’s no way after hearing what you told me that I could expect you to. Julian and Alistair wanted to keep us apart and they succeeded for awhile anyway. Now I know why Julian was so livid when I was assigned your bodyguard, he was afraid we would figure out what happened.”

“I won’t say I forgive you because as far as I’m concerned there is nothing to forgive. You were tricked and I can’t be angry that you didn’t know that. They made sure there was reason for you to doubt it was me that night. They played on your fears and they are the ones that need to apologize – to you.”

Luis got to his feet then gently pulled Sheridan to hers. Once they were both standing he wrapped his arms around her, knowing she needed a hug above all else. She hesitated for a split second then slowly wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her face in his shoulder. He had never thought just hugging a person could cause so many emotions to run rampant through his blood, but hugging Sheridan did just that.

“Luis?” Sheridan whispered against his chest.

“Hmm?”

“Thank you for understanding and not hating me.”

Luis pulled back and then raised his hands to cup her face. “I could never hate you, Sheridan. Not in a million years could I ever hate you.”

He saw the tears start to slide down her cheeks, but instead of wiping them away, he began to kiss them away. “Please don’t cry. Please don’t cry, sweetheart.”

“Luis, I –“

His lips covered hers, cutting off whatever she had been about to say. As his lips slid against hers, he couldn’t stop the feelings of utter rightness that swirled around his heart. He had always known Sheridan was special, but he had never felt it more than he did right now.

“Luis? Sheridan? Are you two in there?” Theresa’s voice called out from just outside the door, causing him to break the kiss. “Everyone is asking for you guys. They already voted on costumes and you two tied as best costume. Congratulations!”

Sheridan smiled up at him and he smiled back. He could definitely see why she won the contest, he thought stepping back slightly so that he could survey the outfit she wore. The genie costume was revealing to say the least, but it was also sexy as hell. In fact, the costume fit her so well he was tempted to ask if she granted wishes too. He knew exactly what his wish would be too.

“Give us a minute, Theresa.” He said as he once again met Sheridan’s eyes. “We’re kind of in the middle of something, but we’ll be out soon.”

"Okay but hurry up. People are really starting to wonder about you two."

Sheridan chuckled then leaned her head against his chest. "Why are we always being interrupted?"

"I don't know." He said as she raised her head and looked him in the eye. "Can't you make them go away? You are after all a genie."

She laughed then broke out into a mischievous smile. "Sorry I only grant wishes, but you know what, Luis? If you're really good I'll grant you three wishes.”

“Oh really.” Luis asked with a devilish twinkle in his eye. ”Just how good do I have to be?”

Sheridan smiled. “Well tell me what your first wish will be and I'll tell you how good you have to be.”

"Okay," He said nodding then giving her an intense stare. “What if my wish is for you and I to get out of here and go some place where we will be completely alone?”

She raised a brow then broke out into a full-fledged heartstopping smile. “Luis, haven't you ever heard the phrase be careful what you wish for?”

“Yeah, but I never pay attention to it “

"Me either." She said with a laugh. A second later, she stopped laughing and her voice took on a serious tone. "You know I think I can do something about that first wish of yours."

"Oh yeah? Well do tell Ms. Crane."

"I have a car outside." She said as she glanced toward the window on their right. "We could sneak out of the window and make a run for it. I bet by the time they realized we gone, we could be back at the cottage. Completely and utterly alone. What do you say?"

"I say what the heck are we waiting for." He walked toward the window and raised started to climb out. His sword caught on the sill and he ended up taking it off before finishing his climb outside. Once his feet hit the ground, he raised his arms and began to help Sheridan out. As she fell into his arms, he couldn't stop himself from leaning down and giving her a kiss. "I just love rescuing a beautiful damsel."

"Oh really? I hadn't noticed."

He laughed then ran his hand down the length of her arm and linked their fingers together. "Come on Miss Crane. It's time for you to grant me my first wish. I get two more of them, right?"

"Yes, you get two more wishes."

"Good." He said with a grin as they made a dash for her car. "Because I plan to make the most of my other two wishes."

She laughed and together they left the party and the youth center and headed toward home.

PART THREE: A New Beginning

Sheridan unlocked the front door of the cottage then squealed when Luis swung her up into his strong arms and carried her inside. He sat her down in the middle of the living room, but he didn't release his arms from her body. Instead, he used them to pull her closer to him. She moaned when her lower belly came into contact with his very prominent arousal.

"Luis?"

"Hmm?" He asked as he began to kiss his way across her exposed collarbone.

"Do you know what your other two wishes will be?"

He laughed against her skin and his warm breath caused tiny tingles to race throughout her body. "Oh yeah."

"Well are you going to tell me?" She asked as he started to kiss his way up her neck. "I mean I must grant your wishes you know."

"And you'll grant whatever I wish for?"

"Yes." She moaned as he nipped at her earlobe then soothed it with his tongue. "I'm a genie. We have a code to abide by. I gave you three wishes so I have to grant those three wishes."

"Good." He said raising his head and looking her in the eyes as his face broke out into a wide up-to-no-good grin. God, she loved that grin. "I wish for you and I to make love all night long."

Excitement rushed through her body, making her heart race and her knees weak. She would have fallen had she not grabbed onto Luis' arms for support. "Oh god," She whispered breathlessly. "That wish is most definitely granted."

He wiggled his brows at her then leaned down and covered her mouth with his. The kiss was demanding and urgent. Heat pooled in her belly as his tongue explored her mouth. The man had a way with that tongue, she thought as he thrust it in and out of her mouth again and again. He was definitely an expert kisser, the kind you could kiss forever and never tire of. Yeah, she thought moaning as his fingers began to slide across her back and unbutton the mostly see through genie top she wore, he was definitely an expert.

"God," He rasped as he finally pulled his head from hers. "Have I told you how sexy this costume is?"

"No you didn't actually."

"Well this costume is... You took my breath away tonight." He said as he finally released the last button and started to remove the top from her body. "When I walked back into the youth center and saw you standing by the punch bowl, I thought for sure I was going to have a heart attack."

She smiled then stepped back as the top of her costume fell to the floor. The outfit had covered her breasts but because of the open see-through backing she hadn't be able to wear a bra. Judging by the way, Luis' eyes darkened as they raked over her she was glad she hadn't be able to wear a one. He raised his eyes back to hers and then in a lightening fast move, she was back in his arms and his mouth was clamped onto her breast.

She knotted her fingers in his hair as the pleasure and need began to build. "Oh Luis."

His teeth grazed her hardened nipple and she let out a cry of pleasure as a thousand sweet sensations shot through her body. At the rate he was going, she was going to lose control before they ever got to the bedroom.

She felt Luis' hands slide down to the curve of her hips and wasn't at all surprised when he ran them over her bottom and pressed her into him. His erection throbbed against her and she knew it wouldn't be too much longer until they both lost control. She gasped when Luis suddenly moved his hands to her thighs and started to lift her up. She wrapped her legs around his lean hips then moaned as their lower bodies met and he captured her mouth with his. The kiss was hot and hungry. The need for more was quickly becoming more urgent.

Luis began to carry her toward the bedroom. He gently laid her on the bed and a second later he helped her out of the genie pants she wore. His dark intensely passionate gaze swept over her naked body and left her with no doubt that he liked what he saw. She knew she had been blessed with a great body but seeing Luis' reaction to it made her feel as if she were the most beautiful woman in the world.

"Luis." She whispered reaching out to pull him down to her. "I want you."

He smiled down at her then grew serious. "Are you sure? Once we make love there will be no going back, Sheridan."

"I don't want to go back." She said running a hand through his thick black hair. "I want to move forward... with you. I love you, Luis."

He sucked in a deep breath and his eyes grew even darker if that were possible. "I love you too, Sheridan. I love you more than I even knew was possible."

"Then make love to me, Luis. Show me how much you love me."

"It would be my pleasure." He said breaking out into a wicked grin. "I've been waiting for this night for so very long."

"Me too." She whispered as his head began to descend toward hers. "Me too."

His lips met hers and she was almost positive their souls met as well. She felt his kiss that deep. She felt him that deep. Their connection would be stronger after this night. She was sure of it. She moaned as his tongue swept through her mouth and a tidal wave of emotion engulfed her heart. Nothing had ever felt more right... more perfect than being with Luis right now did. And she knew nothing ever would.

She felt him run a hand down the curve of her hip and gasped against his lips as he moved it six inches to the right and touched her center. She arched up trying to tell him with her body what she couldn't say in words. He heard her because a second later his finger dipped inside her and began to stroke her into a passionate oblivion.

He raised his head from her mouth then gave her a mischievous smile as he slid down her body and kissed the heart of her. She writhed beneath him as he moved his hands under her hips and brought her more fully against his mouth. The stroke of his tongue sent her into an elliptical orbit she wasn't sure she would ever come back from. But then she felt him move away from her and she opened her eyes to see him getting up off the bed.

She watched mesmerized as he quickly shed the rest of his clothing and began to roll a condom on over his shaft. Once he was finished, he moved back to the bed and covered her body with his own. He kissed her passionately then moved his hand between them and quickly brought her back to the edge. His breathing was coming more rapidly and she knew it was taking every ounce of control he possessed to hang on until she caught up with him. She ran her hands along the tight muscles in his back then wrapped her legs around his hips and took him into her in one fluid motion.

Ten thousand shockwaves rushed through her as her body joined with his. His low guttural groan told her he felt the same way she did. She knew if she moved just a fraction of an inch he would lose the tightly held control he fought so hard to hold onto and she couldn't stop herself from wanting to see it happen. She moved and as she suspected Luis' control snapped, but the moment his climax took him, another one more powerful than the first took her as well.

"Oh. My. God." She whispered as Luis rolled them over and she collapsed against his chest. "That was..."

"Indescribable." He finished for her, wiping her damp hair back off her face. "I couldn't even begin to say what that was. I've never felt -"

"Me either." She said leaning down to place a kiss against his lips. "I'd only read about that happening. I didn't know it actually could!"

He chuckled then ran a hand over her bare back. "I always knew it would be a moment we never forgot but... even I had no idea it would be like that. I mean in my dreams we were pretty hot but damn that was... that was a five-alarm blaze!"

"Well as soon as your up for it..." She said moving down slightly so that she could brush a kiss against his chest. "I think we should try for a ten-alarm blaze."

He groaned into the air and she smiled remembering the exact wording of his second wish... I wish for you and I to make love all night long.... Oh yeah, she thought sliding back up and running her tongue along his bottom lip, that wish was definitely going to get granted... in its entirety!

Luis placed his arm over Sheridan's side then pulled her back against him. She melted back against him and he loved the feeling that ran through his body. He had finally found the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. He had known it for awhile know but hearing her profess her love for him last night and then her showing him was enough to make him more than just sure. He was positive. She was definitely the one.

"Sheridan?" He whispered against her hair. "Are you awake?"

"Hmm." She said leaning her head back against his shoulder. "I'm awake. I was just thinking about how good it felt to be in your arms and how I never want this night to end."

"It doesn't have to." He said as he began to nuzzle her neck. "I still have one more wish you know."

"Yes," She said raising her hand to the back of his head. "You do. But Halloween is over, sweetheart."

"But you still have to grant me my last wish." He said as he kissed the pulse point of her neck. "You said so yourself, you have to abide by the genie code."

She chuckled but her chuckle became a moan as he moved his hands up her belly and began to fondle her breasts. "You're right I have to abide by the genie code."

"You want to know what my third wish is?" He asked as he took her hardened nipple between his thumb and forefinger. "Do you want to know what I wish for?"

"Yes." She moaned as he gently began to apply more pressure.

"I wish for you to marry me and for us to spend the rest of our lives together."

"What?" She asked turning quickly in his arms and pinning him back against the bed. "What did you just say?"

He smiled then raised a hand to the back of her head and pulled her face closer, until her lips were just a fraction of an inch above his own. He stared into her eyes then repeated his third and final wish. "I wish for you to marry me and for us to spend the rest of our lives together."

He watched as she took a deep breath and he waited, praying that she would grant him his last and certainly most important wish. She searched his eyes for what seemed like a lifetime but was in actuality probably only a millisecond then whispered five words that would forever remain locked in his memory. "Your wish has been granted."

Luis knew that from this day forward Halloween would forever remain his favorite holiday and he also knew that he would spend the rest of his life thanking god for giving him the most amazing gift he had ever received... The Love of Sheridan.

THE END

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
