Useful Critiquing Abbreviations
adj - unnecessary adjective.

adv - unnecessary adverb.

ayk - "as you know": characters sharing information through dialogue that they should "already know", for the benefit of informing the reader.

awk - awkward or clumsy.

cli - cliché

coll - too colloquial

cond - too wordy, condense.

exp - expand

ibp - independent body parts: eyes popping out of a head, jaw dropping to the floor, etc.

imo- in my opinion.

mix met - mixed metaphor, clashing images

mm - misplaced modifier: "Walking to the counter, he poured coffee." This makes it seem as if he is pouring the coffee *while* walking to the counter.

name - using a name too often in dialogue.

rep - repetitious

pace - problem with pacing.

POV - point of view problem, head-hopping.

pp - purple prose

sdt - show, don't tell

TMAWIA - too much about what it's about. Author intrusion.

voice - inconsistent voice with what has already been established

ww - wrong word (usually a misspelled word, ie: too, to, two. Sometimes a word used in the wrong context.)

WSYIWYG - what you see is what you get.
