WWE Broadcast Teams.
I don't like J.R. I think he's a Giant Toad. He can lend great emotion to certain events, but he has an absolute inability to be impartial. That's fine, but he comes across as totally hypocritical whenever a wrestler makes a face/heel turn. Suddenly, J.R. hates/loves somebody he loved/hated just a week earlier.
Some of his analogies are shocking, too. I remember during a Michaels-Austin match some years ago, he said suddenly, "It's like kissing your sister..." I can't remember the situation which evoked that metaphor, but my brother, cousin, and I just looked at one another - is that what they do where J.R. comes from? I think Lawler was perplexed, too.
However, the interplay between J.R. and Lawler is generally very good - particularly since Lawler returned. I don't know why, but Lawler seems to have gotten a lot better since he resigned, then returned. It may be that the break allowed him the space to sharpen his heel-perspective. So many wrestlers had chopped and changed demeanors that Lawler lost the luxury of being partial to the heels.
Anyway, those two aren't really my point. Sure, J.R. might make as many errors as Schiavone, and Lawler can occasionally lapse into hysterical toilet-humor, but the two work - which is more than I can say for Tazz and Cole on SLACKDOWN.
Cole's just an imbecile; he has the tendency to make ridiculous statements, as well come out of nowhere to promote future bouts and events. He has absolutely no segue when he does so - he just comes out of the blue.
Tazz tries, but is just bad. Also, it's intrinsically w[/b] to take a talented wrestler who should be in his prime and make him a broadcaster. He should be pushed in wrestling, which is why he was signed and why he's there, while Cole should go back to interview duties.
I really think SLACKDOWN has to look at a totally creating a new Broadcast Team. I have no idea if the guys I'm going to propose are interested, but I'd go for a Mick Foley/Arn Anderson or Paul Heyman partnership.
Broadcasting would be a great way to keep Foley involved, he has talent on the microphone, and surely WWE should be looking toward grooming the straight-man successor to J.R. J.R.'s not a young man anymore, and each day only makes him uglier, (and that has nothing to do with his Bells Palsy).
Anderson or Heyman could play the heel/color-commentator. Heyman was only okay in his first stint, but he had to live-up to the interplay established by J.R. and Lawler - interplay which remained firmly in every listener's mind. I'm not sure about Arn's capacity, but surely they have to try something, because Tazz and Cole suck the big time.
Since Heyman and Anderson are obligated to RAW, (or so you'd think - they're actually only there by association, Anderson with Flair, Heyman with Lesnar), they'd be free to taking up a broadcast-position on SLACKDOWN.
But anything would be better than Tazz & Cole.

Re: WWE Broadcast Teams.
I bet that our readers (all 3 of them) would get very bored if we totally agreed on everything, which is prolly why I went over your 4Horsemen proposal with a fine-toothed comb, leaving only the question of Austin's participation for possible future discussion.
This time, I agree with you, 110%
I don't care for JR myself, & often wonder what he has on McMahon.
I also can't stand seeing wrestlers being wasted on mic positions. You mentioned Tazz, but another wasteee is Raven. BOTH of these guys need to be in the ring, helping to prop up what I see as a fairly weak cruiserweight division. Maybe they're to heavy to be considered true cruiser's, but I'd much rather see Raven & Tazz mixing it up with the Hardy's, as opposed to watching Matt & Jeff (sounds familiar...Mutt'n'Jeff?) in a handicap match =vs= Brock Lesnar.
I'd almost say in *that* case, that the Hardy's would be the ones with a handicap. :p
I'd love to see Foley on the mic again, for any reason. AA was always a great talker. I think it was FPU that commented earlier re: Arn Anderson's many excellent interviews & promos.
Another good pair, although an unlikely one at this stage, would be the much sought-after Joey Styles, & a recovering-from-Cancer Bobby "the Brain" Heenan. Gorilla Monsoon & The Brain set the mark when it comes to commentating, & nobody has surpassed their achievements, IMHO.
