Welcome to New Members. Please read this first.
Welcome to Romancing the Quill.
Please read over the posts in this forum before doing anything else.
You may notice that you only have access to two forums: the one you are reading (Board Rules and FAQ), and the Test Critique Forum.
You are requested to copy the Test Critique post to a New Topic, then write your critique as per the guidelines in this forum. Please be as thorough as possible.
You may then post your sample work as a New Topic. In the subject line, type the working title of your piece. It is standard practice to use underlines to show italics. Make sure "ezcodes" is checked in the formatting section above the message area of your post, and use the ezcodes to help you with italics, colors, bold, etc. Text you choose to use codes on will appear at the bottom of your message, so you may need to cut and paste it into the correct section of the work.
Your test critique and sample writing will be reviewed by the members. If two - three members wish to exchange critiques with you, you will be given full membership status, and access to the rest of the forums.
Once you receive membership status, you must post the first chapter you want critiqued in the group you have been assigned to. Only post one chapter at a time. If it is the same work you used as a sample, that's fine. Repost it as a new submission in your group critique area.
Ask your critique partners where they would like you to start. If they already have several chapters posted, it would be beneficial for you to read through all the chapters before writing your critiques.
If there are not enough members who wish to exchange critiques with you, your temporary membership will be revoked. You will not receive any explanation. The members will not be questioned about their votes.
Once a decision is made about membership status, the test critique and sample work will be archived (if accepted) or deleted (if rejected), depending on the decision.
One final note: custom signatures are not allowed in the critique forums. They are allowed in the "discussion areas". However, we ask that signatures be kept to a reasonable size, or we may need to disallow them throughout the site.
