Wepen talks about Shadow's life
He stared into the waterfall, watching Sabin and Cyan take the plunge to who knows where. Shadow sighed as he turned and went back through the mountain. Once outside he looked around at the plains and let out a sigh. Interceptor, his canine friend looked up at him and let out a whine.
“They be fine… they can handle pretty much anything…” Shadow said sternly to the German Shepard. He looked back out in the plains and began walking, with no where to go, just walking.
Hours later, he stopped in a village and headed straight to the town’s tavern. As he entered, he felt like there was something nagging at him, some reason he should have gone back to the mountain and leaped off with his comrades. He shook his head and stepped to the bar, dropping a few gold coins to the waiter for a drink. Moments later the waiter pushed a tall mug of what seemed to be ale. He drank slowly, thinking back to his past…

“Hey Clyde! Come on man!” called out a voice as from outside the cabin room.
He jumped out of the room quickly and looked down each way of the train caboose, then charged down the left corridor, towards his buddy.
“Baram, lets get this done with quick! I don’t want to get caught!”
        “They hurry!”
Baram looked around nervously as he began to pick a lock at the back of the train, while Clyde looked back down the hall to make sure no one was coming. A click sound could be heard as the two quickly went into the last caboose on the train, it being loaded with gold and various technology. Suddenly, alarms went off as two soldiers burst into the room guns blazing at the two. Baram was hit and knocked down, but Clyde threw two daggers at the soldiers, hitting them right in the forehead, killing them. Clyde fell beside Baram, who was badly injured.
“Baram! What can I do?!?” cried out Clyde.
        “Kill me… I don’t want to… be tortured by… the Empire… please….”
“I… I can’t!” Clyde leaped from the back of the train and was gone.

Shadow shook his head looking at the half emptied mug of ale. He sighed and muttered as he looked down at Interceptor. He finished his ale and went to a room upstairs. That night he had a dream…

Clyde fell to his knees as he reached the town of Thamasa. He immediately went to a tavern and sat outside, wheezing as he had just run for about a mile from the train. His head bowed as he sat against the stone building and suddenly he heard a noise next to him. A German Shepard was looking up at his face calmly. Naturally, Clyde was frightened, as most German Shepard’s he came across were vicious killers. The dog merely watched him in confusion. After several moments, Clyde reached over and pet the dog on his head. The dog seemed to like it as its tail wagged happily and let its tongue fall from its mouth. It seems Clyde had made a new friend.
After staying outside for several minutes with the dog, he stood and went into the tavern, where immediately he spotted a beautiful woman. He walked to her almost as soon as he saw her.
“Hi there…” the woman responded, “What will you have?”
        “Um… I guess I will order an ale…”
He handed her a few coins he had taken from the train and sat at a table, watching her every move. Her radiant beauty captivated him. When she came back, he began to talk to her, and thus started with a conversation that lasted for what seemed hours.

Shadow woke quickly in the middle of the night and looked around. Interceptor was wakened by Shadow’s sudden movement and stood on all fours to see what was the matter. Shadow sighed and patted the dog lightly, but sleepiness was overcoming him again, so he fell asleep soon after.

Clyde looked at the woman, who had not long ago given birth to a girl. He embraced her slowly and looked at the infant.
“Have you decided a name dear?” whispered the woman.
        “I don’t know… how about Relm?”
        “That sound’s lovely dear…”
The woman handed Clyde the child as he looked at the closed eyes of the small child. The woman fell back and appeared to be asleep. Clyde got down beside her and tapped at her.
“Honey? HONEY!” The woman did not wake.
The man began crying as he looked at the sleeping child. He went to the house near by of the woman’s father.
        “Stratego!” Yelled Clyde.
“What what?” shouted out an elderly voice.
        “Your daughter is… is…”
“I see… and this?” Stratego points to the child.
        “Is your granddaughter. Take her.”
The old man reached out and took the child slowly. The dog whimpered as he did.
“Interceptor, stay here with her… I must go.”
        Whine… whine…
Clyde began to walk away, but Interceptor followed relentlessly. Clyde left the village. As he did, his clothes rippled and turned into ninja clothes.
Shadow was walking away from the tavern with Interceptor by his side. He opened his eyes slowly as he reached the gates and a tear could be seen from his mask. He shook it away and walk out of the town.
He looked down to Interceptor and began talking. “I can’t stop thinking about her… after going through the Phantom Train, I saw her… I can’t help but think… why did she have to die!” He sighed and looked up. “Maybe I should go to Thamasa… maybe I might find some comfort there…”
