Re: What do you want/have in your hope chest Some things for babies might be... soft blankets, sleepers and the little gowns that tie off at the bottom, socks, the little mittens that will prevent them scratching their faces, sewing patterns... These are just a few ideas of some things that it is hard to have too many of. I hope it helps! In Him, ~Mrs. Wanda Whatley |

Re: What do you want/have in your hope chest It does help! Thanks so much. I didn't for some odd reason think of any of those things. Danielle Elizabeth Daughter to John and Jacqueline Big Sister to: Mark(12) Samantha(8 ) Lisa(6) Ruth(4) & Jack (2) My Home on the Web |

Re: What do you want/have in your hope chest Well, I haven't gotten my hope chest yet, but I hope to soon (Dad is pretty busy right now I saw some dish towels in Target that were exactly the kind I wanted, white with french blue check, and the material was Egyptian Cotton. I pretty much know what all I'll get, I just can't get it yet. The thing is, what about registering? Now when you are engaged you can register with Clubb Wedd, and people can get all of your things for you. Is it better just to get it all now, or just get like some of it? Of course, if you see things now that you like, they may not be there years later. Blessings, Deb |

Re: What do you want/have in your hope chest What prompted me to have a Hope chest is seeing a friend of mine get married. I didn't actually attend the wedding, but I saw what she had registired for online. She and her husband got hardly anything they regerstired for. So I figure, prepare for the worst! I have my own ideas and could go on and on about them ( I wrote a whole article) but I won't. Re: What do you want/have in your hope chest --my shift key is broken as for registering, register for the things that you really want, but would never buy yourself, such as the waterford crystal or the fine china. people generally don't buy patterns, material, sheets, wooden spoons and the such as wedding gifts. this is not to say never, just generally not. for the everyday stuff, i would go ahead and get all the 'everyday' stuff in your hopechest. being married, from experience, you can never have enough wooden spoons. trust me, ours is somewhere in the hopeless abyss of my kitchen, maybe behind the stove or register for the appliances, such as the crockpot and blender... those are best left to purchase till the wedding time because technology changes. your sister in christ, avery |

Re: What do you want/have in your hope chest I agree with Avery. Also, the china, crystal, etc. are things you're intended will probably want to help select since he'll have to look at it, too. In Him, ~Mrs. Wanda Whatley Edited by: Wanda W at: 2/3/03 9:01:29 pm |

It's funny, because whenever I'm walking through the Target I know exactly what I would or wouldn't get. I want wild flowers and french blue check in my kitchen, but I have yet to find wild flower patterns on dishes with blue check; it's always green or a green strip around the dish. I agree about registering for things you wouldn't normally get for yourself. I'd rather get basics, and let other people get the fancier stuff for me Blessings, Deb Edited by: singergirl01 at: 2/1/03 6:52:39 pm |

I haven't gotten my hope chest yet...I'm hoping for my next birthday! When I have it, I think I want to have...a lot of stuff!!! Let me see... Baby bubbles in large supply and large variety I'll use my security blanket for my kids too....It won't look as nice as it did when I got it at four, but I'll be able to tell them that their great-grandmother made it! China Everyday dishes Pretty quilts and stuff for the baby nursery Helpful books, newspaper clippings, etc. on various subjects Towels, washcloths Spatulas, mixing bowls, and various kitchen stuff Drinking glasses Anything I see that catches my eye and makes me think, "I wish I had my own house so I could have that!" or "I wish I had a baby so I could have that!" I don't know exactly what I'll put in, but those are some things I'm considering. "...Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body." |
